Then I got a bit confused about the location: Paris? Or still Denver?

Even the litterbox had a French notice!

Speaking about 'surprise': I could easily photograph the complete security section, could have even taken detailed pics from people being searched as well as from the private property of the people working there.
(I didn't - but I could enlarge the pic upt to super-poster-plus seize  )

Such would be impossible here in Germany. Totally. (I nearly got my camera once confiscated when I wanted to photograph some friends going in the security section - at our local airport.)

The plane which carried me back

(Nota bene: German airlines use a footballs as radar nose! [It's a test for the Football World Championship, makes us win that easier.])

[There are smaller versions already in use, like on my plane from Franfurt to Paderborn. In within a fortnicgt, it will be reduced to normal ball seize.]

Between these two pics are exactly 1 hour and 32 minutes ... but 1,700 kilometer. (First taken somewhere in the north of Canada, the second after just having crossed South Greenland.)

BBB
We had another "Walter" wind-sand storm yesterday, but not as bad as the first one Walter brought with him. But this time, my spooked dogs alerted me and I was smart enough not to leave my front door open and didn't have to sweep out the sand and dust the complete house.

The sand-dust problem is caused by the large amount of housing construction going on West of the Rio Grande river. The housing boom results in acres of disturbed sandy soil without it's plant ground cover being prepared for house building in the high desert dry air at our 5,000 altitude.

you are lucky you didn't come through newark airport .
when we returned from our cruise(flying in from lisbon) in april , we changed planes in newark . not only was taking pix strictly 'verboten' , but there were also constant announcements that the use of cellphones inside the security zone was not allowed . there was plenty security personnel pouncing on people trying to use their cellphones , some very unhappy travellers !

I hope this does become common parlance.
