Silvia, Cauca Department, Colombia

My son came to visit me in Colombia from the US and we drove to the village of Silvia. It is popular for weekend tourists from Cali as well as many foreigners especially the backpacker set. There are reserves for several Indian groups just outside the biggest being the guambiano community. These people seem to be pretty well off and are the only friendly Indians I've run accross in this country. They wear distinctive dress as you will see. We went on a Tuesday which is market day so they were all in town and there were endless photo opportunities.
