I think you refer to Hezbollah and Lebanon. In Palestine, Israel has had a targeted assassination policy in place for some years now which has successfully eliminated many top leaders.

I was merely pointing to Brandon's simplism and inconsistency in moral argumentes...

Neither of which you've been able to demonstrate. I'll tell you what. If some country tries to assasinate your Prime Minister, you can turn the other cheek, but in my book, you'd have the right to retaliate.

What bullshit. What evidence do you have that there was a credible plot to assassinate Bush 41?

Since you function only by insult and wisecrack, of all the posters here, I guess you're the only one who is simply not worth engaging.

Brandon, people here on this board are so nice, just insulting you should be taken as a compliment, others elsewhere maybe want you shot. But not us. Have you thought about that ?. Shouldn't you be thanking us ?

This is the post of a child. It's also perilously close to a violation of the TOS with a reference to shooting another poster. Even winning a debate by insult and wisecrack is losing. Adults argue their beliefs by a competition of ideas. If they think a poster is not worth debating, then the most they do is ignore him. If I believed what the liberals here believe, I would not be proud of having my views advanced by these methods. Attacking the poster is unworthy and irrelavant, and, if anything, sets your viewpoint back rather than advancing it.

A consistent moral position, if you actually held it, would hold Hamas/Palestine quite justified in attempting the assassination of Olmert or Sharon earlier. Of course, though there's no question at all such attempts have been desired and planned, the only successful assassination of an Israeli leader came from a zionist extremist within Israel itself.

I haven't seen you compete by presenting any thoughts or ideas. (As you stated yourself on another thread, asking you to demonstrate a thought is the same as asking you to run off on a wild goose chase.) Please point to a post on this thread where you contributed your viewpoint in any meaningful manner on a topic of discussion. The only regular thing I see from you is criticism of other people's viewpoints and demands for proof / citations (which have already been provided in plentitude and which you always ignore).

Not being a child myself, I won't respond to a post that refers only to me. If you ever make some assertion about a valid debating topic, rather than all this childish prattle about another poster, maybe I'll respond.

Has anyone else the suspicion that "Brandon" isn't actually a person? Just an experimental Touring Machine Bot?

"The Brandon" produces two responses.

Response 1 - "You've proved nothing"

Response 2 - "I won't bother with someone who calls me a Touring Machine Bot"

It sounds like you're saying that no matter what someone does to you, you have no right to respond militarily. You're entitled to that opinion, but I certainly don't agree.

Gee, putting words in my mouth.

Consider: children are trained -- or, at least, we flatter ourselves into thinking that we train children in this way -- not to fight on the playground (if their school still allows recess) but nations are not. That means, we expect more from our kids than from our nation-states.

The flaw in your argument is that in a playground there is a higher authority to appeal to. And even failing such an appeal, this higher authority will almost certainly intervene to prevent too much evil or harm from being done.

Same goes for snobs who fail to realize how little they have to say.

So, one only behaves when one is being watched?

That's not what I mean. In a playground, it isn't necessary for a child to fight for his rights or his survival because a higher authority exists to intervene before things go too far. Presumably a teacher will intervene, especially if asked to, before a child has his property stolen, or comes to serious physical harm. In the real world, no deus ex machina will descend to prevent great evil from being done, and people are forced to defend themselves.

You must not have been near a playground for a long time.

Criminals, then, stop short of actually commiting their crimes because a higher authority exists to intervene before things go too far.

Brandon needs to visit more than a playgound of Y2K. He just needs to pay attention to reality....
But I am hardly surprised at this apparent lack of perception. He has never noticed the presence of the Church of Scientology in Clearwater Florida....in spite of working in and around the city.

We have gotten off the topic. The thread asks the question is Bush a liar? He lied again when he said that the US does not torture. It was reported that one of the prisoners was forced to remain in a freezing room for days and Bush said the US does not torture. Putting someone in a freezing room for days is torture.

Dear ignorant Possum, of course it's not torture, we here in the southwest refer to this as "chilling out" but yes Bush is a liar.
