My dear Bernie. Your invalid assertion that I sneer at the American people is absurd. The polls that I see put your beloved Georgie Boy in low esteem.

Just because he was elected does not make him any better or smarter or deserving. You are so in love with the guy that you too are blinded. OK, just for you, I will not use the word idiot. George Bush is a goof.

You are quite amusing when you accuse people of name calling and refer to it as a child's game and then in the very next sentence refer to "loonies on the left".

It is also amusing that you only consider left and right.

It is hard to take you seriously.

Intrepid, at what point in William Shatner's career did he have such a look?

Blair delays holiday to work on UN peace deal

Tony Blair today decided to delay his summer holiday for a few days to help secure a United Nations resolution that would call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Israel-Lebanon conflict.
Mr Blair's decision, following that of his foreign secretary, Margaret Beckett, to delay her own break, came as attempts to secure a diplomatic solution at the United Nations in New York yesterday continued to prove elusive.

Both protagonists in the conflict yesterday threatened to escalate their bombing campaigns and intensify the fighting before the international community finally united behind a new UN resolution.

My kinda guy! I've done plenty of that clearing brush thing. Can anyone imagine Kerry doing that? Or Gore? Or Clinton....either one?

It probably is good therapy for Bush to get away from the Washington press corp air heads for a while.

I wish he would take that brush pile and shove it up his ass.

But I suppose Cheney is blocking the way.

With all the brush he's cleared over the years--do his minions plant more so he'll always have some to fool with?

The brush is just another prop in an endless stream of photo-ops, designed to trick the narrow-minded and stupid into thinking that this is an actual human being.

One wonders if he'll be cutting brush to his heart's content once his term is over. Eternal vacation fun!

Speaking of endless photo-ops, the Bush White House is now revamping the Press Room, and in the meantime are having news conferences with Bush but without any video feed. Now isn't that bloody convenient?

Unfortunately, we still get to hear the English challenged moron touch on Iraq:

George W. Bush wrote:
My attitude is that a young democracy has been born quite quickly. And I think the Iraqi government has shown remarkable progress on the political front. And that is is that they developed a modern constitution that was ratified by the people and then 12 million people voted for a government.

Which gives me confidence about the future in Iraq, by the way. You know, I hear people say, Well, civil war this, civil war that. The Iraqi people decided against civil war when they went to the ballot box. And a unity government is working to respond to the will of the people. And, frankly, it's quite a remarkable achievement on the political front.

And the security front is where there has been troubles.

What unity government? The one that's predicting all out civil war in that country?

My god...

Youth Give Bush Poor Grade, Hurting Republican Hopes, Poll Says
Aug. 7 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush's hopes of attracting a new generation of voters to the Republican Party may be fading, as younger Americans are far more critical of his job performance than the broader population.

A Bloomberg/Los Angeles Times poll of Americans age 18 to 24 found Bush's approval rating was 20 percent, with 53 percent disapproving and 28 percent with no opinion. That compares to a 40 percent approval rating among Americans of all ages in a separate Bloomberg/Times poll.

Much like Franklin Roosevelt attracted a new generation of voters with the New Deal, Bush and his administration have had high hopes of drawing younger voters to his party. He has sought to do that through policy initiatives aimed at creating an ``ownership society,'' and public relations tactics like a Youth Convention at the party's 2004 national convention, in which his twin daughters took the stage.

House Incumbents at Risk, Poll Finds
Percentage of Americans Who Approve of Their Representative Has Fallen Sharply

By Peter Baker and Claudia Deane
Washington Post Staff Writers
Tuesday, August 8, 2006; Page A03

Most Americans describe themselves as being in an anti-incumbent mood heading into this fall's midterm congressional elections, and the percentage of people who approve of their own representative's performance is at the lowest level since 1994, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The Republicans said that, should Kerry get elected, we could expect $2.50 gasolene. Hey, I would love to get that $2.50 gasolene.
