Advocate, My wife graduated from high school, nursing school, and college with honors. I didn't know about her accomplishments from high school and nursing school until years into our marriage. I knew about her college honors, because we were married. Our older son graduated in the top ten of his high school class, and graduated summa cum laude from college. He also graduated with honors from the U of Texas in Austin for his graduate degree in communication science. Our younger son is still in college, but his grade point average is A-.
I barely graduated from high school.
I guess that, now and then, nature skips a generation. I remember how I dreaded to find an Asian in any of my classes. He or she would destroy the curve for the rest of us.

If thousands of people followed you around every day with cameras, and pored over every word you said, just trying to find something to injure you, I guarantee that it wouldn't be hard to do. Only an imbecile would place any creedence in this kind of childish character assasination by someone's enemies.
These people were just doing their jobs which is to follow the President of the United States around poring over every word and gesture that he makes, after all he is the leader of the world's (so called) greatest super power. He should be able to stand up to the scrutiny a little bit better with more fineness than he does.

Fact is, he should be able to do it at least as well as a high school class president...but he doesn't.
I like to give him some slack in that regard. He is, after all, a moron.

Yet you denigrate others and call them stupid.
If you were so smart, you would have done better in high school and maybe gone on to college.
I think you need to remember that you "barely graduated" the next time you attack someone with a better education then you.

I did graduate from college with a major in Accounting - in the top 25 percent of my graduating class. I worked in management except for the first 3.5 years I worked as a traveling auditor for Florsheim Shoe Company. They promoted me to Audit Manager, and from then on, I've worked in management for a handful of companies, and also did consulting work.

I think his point is that perhaps you should remove the plank out of your own eye.

Jeez...that might be tough to do.
ci mostly attacks the morons on the right...and most of them either do not have a "better education"...or have turned the "better education" into a pile of shyt.
You do read the crap the righties write, don't you, Mystery?
Oh yeah...you must. You write lots of it.
ticomaya, Your lowyerly brain isn't that sharp, so lay off with your .02c worth of shyt.

There's that plank again.
Your imagination is only exceeded by your ignorance as a lowyer - repeatedly by another attorney on a2k. How do you keep your job as a lowyer?
Your inability to present arguments critically with logic and common sense on a2k shows how dense you are - as a lowyer.
But your honor, that's a "plank" again.
Your inability to comprehend and understand is hardly Tico's fault.

FYI, I am of Japanese ancestry, and our grandfather came to the US in 1893. As a citizen of this country, our family was forced into the US concentration camps during WWII where we were interned for four years.
Our "family" as it is now composed includes English, German, Italian, Chinese, Polynesian, Hispanic, and Dutch.
I'm the "black sheep" of our family; all my siblings are christians and republicans. I am an independent and a atheist, married to a buddhist. All my siblings are married to christians. I was never a good student, whereas my siblings, wife and son graduated with honors. My older brother was an administrative judge in California. My younger brother is an ophthalmologist with an MBA, and is now a legislator in California. My sister is a RN.
Yes, our government failed us during WWII as a result of hysteria and lies perpetrated about the Japanese, but that is in the past. I can tell you stories about the 442 US Infantry, and the many caucasians that have spoken out and supported us during the war. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Governor Carr of Colorado who invited the Japanese to Colorado before the government forcibly removed all Japanese from the west coast.
FYI, I do not judge politicians based on their political affiliations, but how I perceive them to reflect my values. I have said often on a2k that I would vote for John McCain if nobody better runs in 2008. I don't agree with all his politics, but I can trust him to reflect most of what I would want from our president.
All I have seen of George W Bush is his destruction of our country, the divisions he has created within and without our country, the loss of many of our allies, and the chaos he created by his preemptive war in Iraq based on lies, and without an exit strategy. I would never justify going to war based on "fear." I would never support a government that takes away our constitutional rights based on "fear." The Patriot Act and his illegal wiretaps, torture of prisoners, and the most secret administration this country ever had, and the rhetoric against free speech of the people and the press.
I hope this country recovers from the eight years of George W Bush.
I fear for our children and grandchildren, because of the chaos in the middle east, the large federal deficit that continues to grow, and the loss of health care for more citizens of this country during his tenure.
You may interpret this post any way you wish.
Thanks for your information, cicerone. And thanks to Asherman for confirming it. I have no reason to doubt your word. Just curious, you mentioned Colorado, you weren't at Camp Amache by chance, which is near Granada, Colorado? That is the one that I have personally visited, perhaps 5 years ago it was.
How do you explain the difference of opinion in terms of your siblings and you? Do you personally remember the camps, or is that simply the experience of your parents? And did your siblings experience it. I am simply curious as to why your opinions differ so widely from the rest of your family? Education, marriage partner, experiences? If I am being too nosy, simply say so, but just a curiosity.
Cicerone, certainly you must admit your are coming on pretty strong here in your opinions. It seems to be bordering on something a bit more serious than opinion, so aside from our disagreements, I would suggest for your own health to apply a bit of humor, in other words, lighten up. A little moderation and balance is called for I think.
In regard to the camps, then I do not retract my statements about them simply because your family experienced them. It would seem that experience would have turned you against Democrats? I don't understand your thought process.
Here are my answers:

Actually, my wife and her family moved to Colorado before the internment, but the FBI picked up their father and put him into prison in another state before he was returned. My family was interned at Tule Lake in northern California for the duration.
How do you explain the difference of opinion in terms of your siblings and you?
When I attended christian church with my siblings as a youngster, I saw their discrimination against other christian sects - talking of them in negative terms. I also attended their schools, and remember an incident when a girl with a catholic background attended. They treated her badly. I knew from very young the difference between right and wrong. I later attended many different denominational churches including methodist and catholic, and learned they all have their own dogmas in addition to what they teach from the bible.
Do you personally remember the camps, or is that simply the experience of your parents?
I was six when we went in and ten when we came out. I remember many of our experiences in camp, but as a child, we become acclimated to our environment no matter how harsh. It was tough on the older folks, because they lost their livelyhoods, home, and most of their possessions. We had very little.
And did your siblings experience it. I am simply curious as to why your opinions differ so widely from the rest of your family? Education, marriage partner, experiences? If I am being too nosy, simply say so, but just a curiosity.
Glad to answer any question I find reasonable. I found the teachings of christianity to be conflicting, and the bible confusing. They didn't practice what they preached or learned. I later came to the conclusion that religion is an accident of birth - nothing more, nothing less. Before WWII, we used to be buddhist. During our internment, my mother got involved with a lady that lived on the same block, and we were suddenly going to christian church. All my siblings stayed with it, but after I became independent, I didn't believe in (any) religion based on my personal experiences and what I have seen.

okie, I really do hear you. I'm afraid I've turned into a grumpy old man with little patience - especially when people ask stupid questons or people project what I said but didn't. I'm always having to ask them to "prove it." I also hate it when people question my honesty or ethics; that's been my lifelong principle, and I respond accordingly.
In regard to the camps, then I do not retract my statements about them simply because your family experienced them. It would seem that experience would have turned you against Democrats? I don't understand your thought process.
I don't expect you to retract anything, but to assume I know nothing or very little about the camps will get an equal negative response.
I'm really not that bad a person outside of a2k. I know my personality on a2k is wanting, but it's the only place I can get entertainment and some education while I sit at home. 10-4
Thank you cicerone. I couldn't have asked for better answers, and this helps me immensely. I was picturing some 25 year old college kid that types on A2K between history indoctrination classes!
Undoubtedly, our opinions are shaped by our circumstances and experiences, and it helps to have a better idea of the persons we are debating.
I can't disagree with you greatly about religions, cicerone, but the way I look at it, there are sincere people and there are hypocrits everywhere, in politics, in religion, you name it, but that does not mean you need to give up on politics or religion because of lousy examples or experiences. Maybe you just got stuck with some bad apples?
I've said this before, cicerone, but I think it needs repeating. I support Bush, not because I think of him as nearing perfection, but because I do not see the evil in his personality that some here so viciously label him with. So therefore I don't think he deserves that much of an attack. I therefore defend him, and this is interpreted as meaning I follow him all the way, which I do not.
okie, Most humans have differing perceptions of people and places no matter how intimate we believe our knowledge to be. That's just a simple fact of life.

Nonsense. If a large group of people were bound and determined to find a photo, quotation, or action of yours which could be used as the basis for an unfair accusation, I assure you that it would be easy. Only a fool would believe this kind of predictable character assasination by someone's enemies.
People like Brandon doesn't understand the difference between a citizen and the president of the US - who happens to be the more powerful head of state of this world.
When we say something, it impacts only our own lives. When the president says something, it impacts not only Americans but people all around this world.
Some people lack any common sense or logic. It doesn't matter if "we" are embarrased; it only hurts ourselves.
