I went back to work (home office) after American Idol last night and for the first time ever dialed the voting numbers. Hitting the redial ten times in a row in rapid succession, I got through to Elliott's line every time - not a single busy. In the same way I tried Taylor's line and never got through - always busy. (I didn't try Kat's line because I don't want her to win.)

I wasn't as crazy about Kat's rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as the judges were. Taylor did good on all three of his songs I thought. Elliott was also very good but last night lacked that WOW factor.

It should be Kat, but I think it will be Elliott leaving tonight. At least that will leave a clear choice for me next week.

I didn't like any of Taylors performances. I liked 2 of Elliots and 2 of Kats.

Taylor is going home.

And yet Taylor's the only one who's never been in the bottom three.

Amurrica loves him.

I have a feeling the judges have tremendous influence on the public opinion. Which is lame, because, if Randy says Elliot sang sharp, us tone deaf plebians take his word for it, even if Simon, another trained ear, disagreed.

Elliott has rarely had a pitch problem and did not Tuesday night, and if Taylor has ever been pitchy I sure didn't hear it and I have a good ear. The only one of the final three who often has pitch problems is Kat. That alone is not enough to disqualify her because it won't be allowed on videos or recordings, but I still think she peaked sometime back and has not approved since.

There was less than 1 percentage point separating the three--all were 33.something. Elliott was on the bottom however and he went home. This is the first contestant voted off that I truly hated to see go. It should have been Kat.

At least I have a very clear preference for who I will want to win next week. Smile

Last year I didn't care whether Carrie or Bo won as I thought both deserved to win.

Thanks for reminding me that I was in exactly the same position. Two contestants that are okay, but I wouldn't run out to Tower Records to get their new CD. (but then-- I'm an ancient--a fossil-- older than rocks--a ..wait a minute, I'm depressing myself.)

The producers are stuck this year with Taylor, who is fun to watch, but not musically interesting, and Kat, who is good looking, but hasn't had an original thought in her life.

This competition eliminates any contestant with originality and we are stuck with the mediocre --- American Blandstand.

I don't think there is a thought period in her head. Laughing

Does anybody else think that the talent pool just wasn't so much there this year when compared to previous seasons? Kat really has no low register and gets pitchy every time she pushes her high register and her style simply doesn't wow me. I'll admit Taylor doesn't have the world's best voice but many pop stars don't. He definitely does have a good voice, however, and he has the ability to entertain. Elliott had a great voice but too often lacked the wow factor.

Going back and listening to Carrie and Bo (and others from previous seasons), they just seemed to have superior voices, presentation, and music sense.

Elliott was my favorite. I'm done watching now as neither of the two that are left do anything for me. I'll be watching for anything released by Elliot. That's something I haven't done since Kelly Clarkson.

Yeah, I also think, that Alabama - for once - is voting like crazy for
their homeboy, whereas Taylor Hicks is only mediocre (in my view).

I think Taylor will have a very long Vegas career. Kat will do better in a studio with editing, but will be forgotten soon enough. I think Elliott will sing until he's old, and write songs when he can't sing any more.

I haven't liked Kat very much the last couple of weeks. She seems more and more "screechy" and "fake" each time she sings. Although I don't know the proper musical terminology for what she does with her voice, I don't think she can sing and hold a pure note. She has to "dress up" her notes with a lot of unimpressive runs----probably to hide the fact that she can't stay in tune.

She should have went home last week instead of Chris.

Taylor Hicks -- an American IDOL? I think NOT.

Elliot? He's the kind of person who grows on you. I liked him more and more with each passing week. He has a pure vocal talent, humility, and "niceness" that most of us can truly respect.

A Chris/Elliot final show would have been amazing.

The Taylor/Kat final that we're stuck with is disappointing.

Taylor Hicks can sing ... if you just didn't have to watch the his Elaine Benis "dancing."
