But whether or not he is, what difference would it make? The competition wasn't based on anything other than singing ability, charisma, and presentation so far as I could tell. I mean a gal in a tux or a guy in drag might have changed the demographics a bit, but otherwise, who cares?

I'm sure the non-Taylor fans think he sucks but the Taylor fans voted like crazy for him. Whether or not you like his style, personality, voice, or presentation, he was one of if not the most consistent of all the contestants. Chris was too often uninspired when he was out of his genre and Kat was very inconsistent with a few really WOW performances and others that were very much less than WOW.

Then again, Taylor might have gotten even more votes if he had been topless too.

I didn't dislike Taylor Hicks' actual singing as much as how his moves made me squirm, and I suspect this year's real American Idol was Daughtry, but the only way to scientifically, statistically solve this situation is to have an additional one-hour encore with Taylor, Chris, & Katharine all performing topless.
