I remember them threatening to hurt people and throw stuff on the GOP attendees.

They got their free speech.

They just didn't get to do it in throwing distance of people they threatened to physically attack.

Do you remember some of the things that were said around that time?

A simple google search will tell you that it is written in the US Constitution. It's the First Amendment.

Try typing in constitution and free speech. It's all there. Didn't you pass Civics in high school?

Lash,

You're quite right. Peaceful protesters are allowed all the free speech they want.

They're just too far away from the Prez to be heard. The right to assemble is the First Amendment, or was. Did the Bush cabal change that too? Rolling Eyes

WRONG!!!!!

Here is what the first amendment says...

Amendment I - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

Now,where is the right to be heard???
If you have the right to be heartd, then you have to stop and listen to all the street corner preachers, mental patients with their ramblings, and everyone else.
Do you stop and listen every time someone gets on their soapbox and says whatever crosses their mind?

If you dont, then arent you violating their "right to be heard" that you just said exists?

You have the right to freedom of speech, but that does not mean you have the right to be heard.
There is a difference.

So,I ask again, where is the right to be heard?

Now that gives me a warm fuzzy feeling...LOL

My point is,the protesters that were cordoned off away from the President or the party conventions were NOT denied their right to freedom of speech, nor were they denied their right to assemble.

They could say whatever they wanted, but nobody had to listen, nor is there a right to be heard.

So,why complaint about the protesters rights being violated?

If you protest about valid concerns and you are not heard, then what's the point of having freedom of speech? Why not just take it out of the Constitution? Might as well.

To cordone off only the anti-Bush group smacks of Hitlerian tactics. That's what the Storm Troopers were about. Heil Bush, eh?

Bah. You can shout 'Bush Sucks!' anytime you want without fear of arrest or imprisonment. There are plenty of countries where that isn't an option.

Er, well, in regards to saying their ruler sucks. I'm sure noone out there would arrest you for shouting 'Bush Sucks!' anyway.

Apparently you didn't read about the couple who were arrested in the states for wearing T-shirts that were anti Bush. I can google it if you want proof. God help anyone who actually shouts anti bushisms in His presence.

I live in Canada. If anyone says Bush Sucks or Buck Fush around here- they get cheers Laughing

But its not just the anti Bush protesters.
At the last Democrat party Convention, the protesters there were cordoned off also.

Why?
Is there a right to be heard in the constitution?
If there isnt, then why all the fuss about the protestors not being heard?

As for " top 3 screwiest things i've ever heard",I think this answer from pachelbel tops that...

"A simple google search will tell you that it is written in the US Constitution. It's the First Amendment.

There is no constitutional right to be heard, but there is one to free speech.
The 2 are not mutually exclusive.

amigo,
First of all,I dont give a damn what you think of me.Your opinion is totally irrelevant to how I live my life.

If a question bothers you that much, dont answer it.

Secondly,"freedom of asembly"?
You are right, you have the right to assemble with whoever you choose.
