Oh Bo you hammered in a few nails there. Strewth. We are not Luddites, we just enjoy a memory or two with a side order of nostalgia but hold on the Tolpuddle Martyrs. A little mix and match for pudding and with a glass of ancient and modern to savor.
The 21st century will whisk us along in it's slip stream as and how the wise old owls decree

... but back to the soapbox:

1 .. I find it incomprehensible that war is considered a reasonable way to resolve conflict in the 21st century .... It's like we're still living in the dark ages ... tragic ! Crying or Very sad

2 .. Lying politicians Evil or Very Mad (In Australia they make "non-core promises" during the election campaigns).

And smaller gripes that really get to me:

3 .. The HUGE amount of paper that one has to dispose of, generally unsolicited advertising, provided courtesy of my daily paper, mail & bills, unneccessary packaging, etc, etc .... What a waste of perfectly good trees! Evil or Very Mad

4 .. Pop-ups on the internet! LOATHE them!

Got one for you msolga;

Everyone who buys premium toilet paper is an environmental philistine!!!

The "upper end" (pun intended) papers are multi-ply, and you use two, three, or four times as much every time you wipe your ass, cutting down many more trees, and putting a greater strain on the treatment facilities since the heavier papers don't break down as easily.
I hope I'm changing some TV poluted minds here, and besides the heavier papers are more likely to abraise the delicate membranes around "Uranus"!

Ah, Bo. You're always a day late and a dollar short. I do appreciate the music to Flight of the Bumble Bee and The Song of India...but I wanted the LYRICS to Song of India.

Hmmmm. Now, Bo, when Diana Krall goes for the oldies...you gotta admit that John(OAK) and I aren't exactly alone in the past.

However, Miss Olga regrets she's unable to lunch today, Madam. Smile
Fantastic song by Nat Cole....

Let's face the music and dance....Neither poetry, nor music, nor long legged beasties ever become passe.

"Oh, hi! A-heh heh! Is Miss Otis in?"
"Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch today."

Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch today, madam.
Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch today, mmmmmm.
And she's sorry to be delayed,
but last evening down at lover's lane
she strayed, madam.
Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch today.

When she woke up and found
that her dream of love was gone, madam,
she ran to the man
who had lead her so far astray.
And from under her velvet gown
she drew a gun and shot her lover down, madam.
Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch today.

When the mob came and got her
and dragged her from the jail, madam,
they strung her up
on the willow across the way.
And the moment before she died
she lifted up her lovely head and cried, madam.
Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch.
Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch today.

Shocked Dys, I don't believe it. Sheeeeeze. and I don't believe this either.
My sister just sent me a little of the lyrics to Song of India:

My heart lies back where Indian waters flow,
It keeps on telling me that I should go,
Back to my home in far off India.

Once neath tropic skys a pair of eyes
Were so fair.
and within their glance
I found romance, lying there.

WOW and double WOW!

Eat your heart out Google

Like how come you have a music thread going and not invited me onto it eh?
What was that about the Song of India?
(haven't read back in the thread yet, obviously.)
I thought the Song of India was an instrumental, maybe with lyrics added later?
Anyway, hi.

Soapbox? I hate modern coffee shops selling overpriced coffee in overabundant and pretentiously complex profusion of brew and flavour and recipe and temperature. And to grow the coffee, they cut down forest where the orang-utan live.
But that's not new. In "Frasier" they send this up delightfully. No not the deforestation, the pretentiousness.

Time for my medicine, nurse.

McTag, The Song of India is a beautiful classical piece, but for Gautam I have searched the world over for the lyrics that WERE added later, I'm certain. As for your invite, you'll have to take that up with Bo Smile and I'm with you. The only deviation from regular, old coffee for me is an occasional espresso.

Edgar, Ray has got Georgia on his mind and that should be the state song.

By way of touting the universality of welcomeness here I must point out that while no invitations were issued per se, the McTags of the world are always welcome everywhere; and I add a coffee note:
when the coffee plantations are not devastating the environment (albeit on our behalf, since we demand...), many pay unaccebtably low wages to their workers.
Near me in TO there is a coffee house co-operative which sells only "fair wage", "green" coffees; a better choice (I hope [or a great con game]).
And not to miss a chance to rant "invite" is a verb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Invitation is the noun. thankyou Rolling Eyes

OK, I just thought of a soap box............it took me a while. It drives me crazy to go to a restaurant and be served more food than two linebackers could consume in a week. There's something distinctly unappetizing about a huge mound of food on my plate, no matter how tastey.
