I don't want to get in an argument with anyone here, but Setanta, you do not always attack the writing. You have attacked the writer on many occasions.

But, I think it's pretty safe to say that we have all been guilty of some sort of attack or another at times.

Can't we get back to debating the topic and not calling names once again?

Sure, MOAN, no problem--and while we do, keep in mind that when i characterize your imaginary friend superstition as idiotic, it doesn't mean that i've called you an idiot. I'd have to know you pesonally to assure that i considered you an idiot, and i frankly haven't any interest in a personal relationship with a religious fanatic.

Is characterizing someone as a "religious fanatic" just another way making negative characterizations of what someone writes?

I know that, and I only speak for myself, that if I were to characterize someone as a "religious fanatic" I would be disparaging the person I was referring to, not what they wrote. "fanatic" is not a term that lends itself well to describing a person's writings.

For example, I may say "Osama is a religious fanatic bent on the destruction of all non-Islamic people's."

I am using the term "fanatic" to describe the person in such a way as to insult them. Therefore, when I see another poster refer to someone as a "fanatic", especially a "religious fanatic" I believe that person is being purposefully insulting in order to emphasis a point.

As far as Setanta's haughty attitude, nothing can be done about it. Best to either a) report it if you are offended, 0r b) ignore it and realize who the messenger is.

I'm happy to say that I believe president george bush is not a religious fanatic, he is, however a simpleton with fanatical tendencies. John Ashcroft, however is a religious fanatic.

No doubt about Ashcroft being a fanatic, all you have to do to assure yourself of that is to read what he has said and written.

I don't think George Bush is a religious fanatic, his administration just appeals to them. If you think about it, BushCo is very good at manipulating the religious fanatics.

His thinking however ceratainly IS idiotic. I'm still waiting for ANY rightwinger to explain to me how they consider creating an Iraqi Islamic Theocracy as "complete victory". None of them seem to want to tackle that one.

Any moron who has himself annoited with oil, as is Ashcrofts custom, before he takes office each time is definitely a religious fanatic. Any fool that spend $8.000. to cover the boobs on a statue is definitely a religious fanatic!

I don't think anyone could say for sure if the Shrub is an idiot, you'd have to know him personally to reasonably make the judgment. But given the number of idiotic things he's said, by Tico's criterion, he's America's greatest all-time idiot.

I know I haven't because I believe your premise is faulty and I really do not wish to discuss it with you based on past interactions. Your postings demonstrate a closed mind and you are firm in your beliefs and therefore discussion with you is nothing more than futile.

My "closed mind" is influenced by reading their constitution. I can only tell you what it says since you seem to be unable to read it for yourself. If the premise is faulty, perhaps you can take time out in your busy schedule to read said constitution and see for yourslef. I'm certainly not asking you to believe me. Just do a little reading, you might find it enlightening!

Again, just because you consider them idiotic does not make him an idiot. It does mean you are insulting the man, regardless of whether you think you are just expressing your "scorn for the idocy he speaks."

But I haven't commented upon your insulting the President. He's a public figure and open to such remarks. I am describing the frequent instances where you insult both the person and the writing of the posters at this site.

George W. Bush has a more serious problem. He has dangerous Messiah and Messianic complexes.

The general definition of a complex is a phenomena, or a psychological wish, which resides within the person and which does not manifest in him consciously, but nevertheless it affects him and through its power he often behaves unaware of the true inner reason. The Messiah complex is the will, intention, compulsion to be a messiah, to be the redeemer and savior of the world.

But even more dangerous is his Messianic Complex.

A Messianic complex is not just the general wish - be it overt or covert - to redeem the world or to improve the conditions of the world, but it includes another component just as important. The messianic wish is not merely a general wish for improved conditions and for changes for the better, but the wish of that private person to become personally the redeemer of the world.

So, I'm sitting here with the lady diane in our little home office looking out the window at the fallen leaves I need to rake up and the telly is on in the other room just loud enough that I can hear the words spoken. I think it's on CNN but not sure but anyhoo I hear some politico say "It's very important to have morals even after being elected to office"
Well, I was stunned to hear such commentary and spit my mouthful of tea towards the Sally dog who was also looking out the window, She was stunned also.

I think Sally should come and live with my Dolly and Madison to get away from such a dog abuser.
