It was a very comfortable mid-seventies today in Silicon Valley.
I went to the airport at 5:15 am on Monday - and it was just below freezing! Spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Sweden - dark grey clouds, rain, wind and cold!
Now I am back in Germany - it was nice and sunny today - but the wind was cold. The weather forecast for the long weekend is good! I will go rollerblading and dream of Florida....
margo...hi: I was only in Australia once, and only for a week on R&R from Vietnam. It was, I believe, in March and I really don't remember a lot about it. I spent most of my time sleeping in my hotel room, in a real bed with real sheets. I spent a lot of time walking around Sydney, just looking at the city. It was a fine week.
I lived for a year or two in Capetown, South Africa, and I remember some of the storms comin in during the winter (which of course is summer in the US). Shouldn't you be getting some kind of winter in Australia? Colder weather? Rain? -rjb-

It's getting a bit colder -winter officially starts on 1 June - but I had to turn the heating on last night. I usually only have it on a couple of times a year. It never snows in Sydney, but it gets down to about 50F during the day in the middle of winter. Yesterday was just magnificent - out and about, spectacular blue skies, sunny, but a chilly wind - there's some snow in the mountains far south. Great out with a warmish jacket.
It's just that the water situation is deteriorating. Limited garden watering. Most rainfall comes in summer - but not this past summer. We'd need about a month of solid rain to ease the drought.
margo...hmm. This is a little difficult for this puppy to understand: winters in Aus are colder and drier relative to the summers which are hotter and (typically) wetter. That's backwards from here where summers are hot and dry. I hope you get some nice soaking rains. -rjb-
Not much change since my last post; nice weather. We had the Blue Angels at Moffet Field, about six miles from our home, flying around yesterday. Their flight pattern puts them almost on the top of our house, and the roar of the jets seems like they're only a few feet away. zooooom!
It is sunny today in Bavarian, but I am dreaming of Florida.
Misti, I think they're higher than they seem. I think they have some regulations about altitude in residential areas.
People on the ground invariably overestimate how close to the rooftops a plane is flying. Invariably. Something in our brain makes us see the aircraft quite a lot closer than it actually is.
Quite chilly here. It went down to 4 celsius last night. I think that's about 40 fahrenheit. I had to put long pants and a polar fleece hoodie on this morning.
I think we had a few hours of warm weather a while back. There must be a reason I turned my furnace off
BEE you tiffle today in New York!
Come lay around on the grass in Ft. Tryon Park ! We can see the sailboats on the river.
Unless you've got a sailboat, bring that!

It was a nice day in Balingen today. Went rollerblading at 10:30 am and had lunch outside at La Pergola. Now there are lots of clouds... I want to go rollerblading tomorrow morning, too! No rain! Misti, I am sending any rain we might get to you, ok?
Hm, that doesn't look too great.... Well, maybe it's the gym then tomorrow...
Danke, Walter!
Hot, humid, very windy, miserable and the dry line is moving ever closer we may have horrible tornados in Tejas today.
Loggig off, tornado alley if firing up and the sky is a yukky yellow.
Today was beautiful, lots of blue sky and not too much humidity .... low 90's.
Spent the afternoon lounging in the pool with family and friends, it was a good time.
