margo, it's such a beautiful drive up the coast highway. I hope that your friend enjoys it, in spite of the rainy weather.
It was 81 degrees this morning, with 100% humidity. Then a front came through, it rained, and it is now a dry, beautiful 74degrees, at 3 p.m.

Yes, there is something to what you say. Of course, it also applies to laying in front of a roaring fireplace with a glass of wine and a lover. The best things about cold is not being in it, but those things can be very nice indeed.
Egads, it up to 78 degrees already! If I can pull myself away from this blankety blank computer, I am going for a nice long walk!

You were right about the lousy weather - and about the beautiful drive.
A phone call yesterday confirmed both. The comment was "I wish this coastline would stop being so beautiful so I can drive a bit!" This was from Coos Bay, Oregon, and still heading north.
Meanwhile, back at the Sydney ranch, weather is still magnificent.
I have a nephew what lives in Coos Bay, OR. Well, sort of. Oh, he lives there alright, but he's kinda a nephew of sorts.
we had about 24 hours of indian summer here. now late autumn is heading our way - and looking like it's planning to punish us for something.
Debacle, could you be a little less precise about your nephew, please? We don't really need to know all those details.
Fort Worth beautiful today. We were kissed by the Gulf's gentle breezes and lots of sun.
JD: Hope you took advantage of the nice day and got yourself to the beach, if you live near one. You know what they say about those positive ions!!!
eBeth, sounds great ... there's nothing like Indian summer, the changing of the leaves, and late evening coolness, mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Debacle, huh? Wanna explain that?
The beach is way far from the Fort Worth/Dallas metroplex so no ions but prior to today we had eleven straight days of clouds, fog and rain so it was a postivie thing.
My brother's ex-step-son, to wit, my ex-step-nephew, lives in Coos Bay, OR ... just saw him a couple of months ago, first time in 45 years ... swell guy. Great place to be from, Coos Bay, OR so he said. It was here, not there ... which is neither here nor there ... his visit, I mean ... just don't want to give the impression we were all there, which I never have been.
None of us are, M. deB. If we were all there, we wouldn't be here, would we?
Cold and rainy.
The weather changes rapidly these days.
Almost as definitively as Dill Pickle's entrancing family histories.
