Nice here in Silicon Valley too, but we've got fire problems all across our state; short rain season and hot weather is starting our fire season early.

c.i. I heard about the fires on the news, what a shame. Looked like the dreaded euclyptus were burning like match sticks.

Have you hever been to the BART station in Oakland, the last one just before Berkeley, with all the tiles made by the surviors of the Oakland canyon fire?

Yeah, it's been very strange to see the fires in the spring. The fires at our backdoor were invariably in the fall, and I'm wondering how many CDF firefighters are even on the job yet -- since a good chunk of their numbers each summer are fresh out of high school.

Accoding to today's weather report, we live in the only sunny part of our state this morning (has been raining all over the places a lot the last few days):
view from the kitchen window down to neighbour's front door rhododendrons

But it is rather cold for May: only 10°C now!

Today, like yesterday, we've had fierce late afternoon thunderstorms in Virginia. The one on Tuesday was scary: reports of 2-4" in only an hour; the wind from the west slamming the rain against our wood frame house and, of course, we lost power for an hour or so. Today's was less violent with regards to the wind, but another inch or two of rain.
Two years ago we were in drought. As recently as a week ago I heard a Public Service Ad on a local radio station encouraging folks to order rain barrels. A good idea, I thought, but now we are swimming.
How is water where you are? Thanks. -rjb-

Loved seeing the webcams ... especially Times Square! Awesome pictures of flowers WH, thank you for posting!

Sorry to hear about your weather RJB ... it's like Florida, a feast or famine! Hope it will all turn out okay!

Our weather is in the high 80's here, around 68F at night, and humid.

Already there's a tropical storm headed for the Gulf, about two weeks early. Hurricane season starts June 1st ... so it could be an interesting summer.

It's been rather cool for the past week, and it looks like cool weather for the next seven to ten days; high sixties to low seventies.

Grey/gray days in DFW metroplex for to many days in a row. The dry line is so far to the north west we get the clouds not the rain. Wish the weather would make up it's mind in this neck of the woods.

First day's rain in who knows how long. Just enough to water the garden, but nowhere near what it'll take to break the 2-year drought. Tougher water restrictions are in from next week.

Rain is said to be clearing today Sad

Just informed Rae we're working on our tan this long, 3 day weekend!
