Did you get the wind yesterday Margo? We didn't get it here. At least not the 100kph they were talking about further north.

There must have been a fair old wind here at some time - perhaps in the night? It blew almost all the blossoms off the flowering cherry?? tree - and the ground in the backyard is covered with white petals. Quite pretty really - but would have been better if they could stay on the tree.

It's still only spring - although it'd be nice if the bloody August winds didn't last into October! Evil or Very Mad

One of my favorite times of year is when the petals fall from the cherry trees. They are frequently pushed off early by winds, but that's the nature of them, I think. Can you spend any time lying under the trees to enjoy the last few fall onto you and your blanket? For me those are very peaceful moments.

One blossom tree, paved courtyard, winds, laundry, neighbours yelling, Possum-cat....not remotely peaceful, I'm afraid! Confused

It's finally cooled a bit here in Florida ... we had lots of rain last week, and it was refreshing.

My beautiful oleander tree out back has lost a few huge branches from the winds recently, so I'm hoping that's it for awhile cuz there will be nothing left of it.

That oleander happens to be my favourite tree, too. It's very stately and magnificent when it blooms.....I appreciate that tree every day just as much as I appreciate waking up. Weird. (You'd understand if you could see it.)

Great Misti. Just great. I hung up the phone and stepped out the door to make a quick trip to 7/11, and what did I see on top of my car? Three inches of snow. It's 21 degrees, so that's what I'll see in the morning, too.

Misti, I love those pictures. Snow, Roger? Rae is going to be envious.

58 degrees

Wind (palm fronds all over my yard)

Good grief. I left my kitchen window open last night. Everything seems to be in its proper place.

It just started doing here in VA what Mechsmith in WV commented on: sleet. Snow would be fine; rain would be better, but sleet sucks. It could be a long night in the battle between ice and power lines.
-rjb- (ps: welcome Mechsmith. I haven't met you despite your 400+ posts).

Likewise realjohn,

I wouldn't count too much on our power staying on tonight. Ice is sticking on the trees and wires. Enough and they're going to break. Puter won't work on kerosene so I guess I'll get to read a book. Very Happy
