Pictures of Hurricane Isabel as she impacted Cocoa Beach, Fl. as the surfers wait for the big wave. Taken from a lovely spot known as "The Pier" ..........

Finally, some very soft rain today, in between sunshine! It was so refreshing!

Did someone say there's another hurricane out there?

Bloody Melbourne!

At 6am on Saturday morning, it's 30C (around 85F) in Sydney. T-shirt weather!

Hop on the plane to Melbourne, about an hour's flight, and the pilot announces it's 5 degrees, raining, and a threat of hail! Yikes. Not enough clothes.

Well, we didn't get the hail, but we got everything else. Sitting cold and wet in the Melbourne Cricket Ground, frozen to the marrow. Then couldn't get on public transport back through the city, so walked. Aaaarrrrggghhhh!

And thids is spring Question Sheeesh!

Today in Yorkshire it is slightly breezy, somewhere between overcast & sunny, and slightly chilly. Typical British weather for any time of the year, apart from it hasn't rained. If it does, it will probably rain slightly.

Today was just a knock-dead gorgeous day in Virginia. Most of the people who came in my store today, if they wern't genetically inclined towards grumpiness, remarked on how sweet it was: sunny with temps in the 60's. Autumn is coming.

Isabel is now two weeks gone, although 90,000 Virginians are still without electricity. Our cottage, vacant at the time of the storm but with power, is now a temporary home for some folks still without electricity. Family #1 stayed a few days; got their power back and went home. Same with #2. We're on #3 now.

It is inconvenient to not have lights, or TV or intenet access.

The food in the refrigerator dies.
But the big problem is water. Most rural folks rely on wells that are dependent on pumps run by electricity. No juice=no water=no toilets and no showers.

"Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink"

But it was a beautiful day, today, in my hometown.

Everybody keep their fingers crossed. I felt a bit chilly today in shorts. To tell the truth, I am sick to death of summer. Maybe today is a portent of things to come! Surprised

Not t-shirt weather at the moment. brrrrrr. I've got the gas heater going. Was cold at the start of my walk too. That warmed me up for a little while.

It is 67 degrees this morning. Probably the first time in six months that the temperature was below 70-75 in the morning. Whoopee!!

Today and for the last few days we have had great Texas fall weather. Temp have been way below normal. But never fear Tejas will get more heat and humidy before the real fall gets here.

Hey Misti gal.

There must have been a fair old wind here at some time - perhaps in the night? It blew almost all the blossoms off the flowering cherry?? tree - and the ground in the backyard is covered with white petals. Quite pretty really - but would have been better if they could stay on the tree.

It's still only spring - although it'd be nice if the bloody August winds didn't last into October! Evil or Very Mad

We were having a conversation about that today. This is the longest any of us can remember the "August" winds blowing.
