MA, oui vey! That's terrible news!

There's thousands of people stranded at Orlando Airport, but they seem happy that at least it's warm here. They're hoping to get back home by Wednesday.

Doesn't this remind you of the winters years ago? When I first came to this country, we had winters like the one you're having this year.

I remember one year getting 27" of snow, yikes, awful!

Misti, Even flights from San Francisco and Los Angeles were affected with all the cancellations and delays to and from the east coast. Many are stranded at airports tonight. c.i.

Well, according to the weather bureau, this storm was actually worse than the Blizzard of '78 in terms of the amount of snow we allegedly received. It was measuring out at the 27 and one-half inches at Logan Airport this morning. From my personal experience, though, I don't see it. The city was snowed in and shut down for a week in '78. Everything's moving pretty normally today. Took me about 45 minutes to dig my car out, no big deal. All the major thoroughfares are well-plowed, no problem. Parking is something of a problem but parking is always a problem in Boston. It was a nice little winter storm, all right, but I wouldn't compare it to '78. Still flurrying from time to time but the main brunt of the storm is now well out to sea.

Remembering the some winter in the 70's, when it took me about the same time ... until I recognized, it was my friend's VW, not mine.

Well, the digging warmed you up as much as if it had been your own, didn't it, Walter?

My friend studied mathematics at that time, roger. He proved that I would feel even warmer when going on with my car - and drove away. (He paid me some beers and schnitzels that evening. So it actually was okay.)

We've had some showers. 3 good downpours in 4 days. All the grass is starting to look green again. Haven't seen that for a while.

It's been in the low sixties - can't complain. The media in the San Francisco Bay Area have been showing the people trying to dig out of all that snow on the east coast. Ugh! c.i.

First day in several weeks that the temp. has actually gone above the freezing line. Somewhere close to 40 F. Amazing for February hereabouts. All those huge piles of snow are going to melt.

Amazing hot, you mean, Andrew?

The barometer is showing "snow" and sometimes additionally "storm" here since yesterday: cold at night and lovely (just above freezing point) at the cloudless, sunny day. (We had a 'high high' here before, pressure now going down, but still in the "green region".)

That's exactly what I meant, Walter -- awfully warm for Febnruary, about 2 or 3 degrees Celsius. Anything in the plus column is warm for Fenruary hereaboutrs.
