That white stuff -- what is that stuiff anyway? -- has been coming down here since about 10 a.m. It's scheduled to go on like that ad infinitum. Looking out the window (I certainly don't intend to go outside to look any closer), I'd guess we've got about two fresh inches on top of what was already there. Supposed to get somewhere around two feet plus by the time it's all over sometime in the dim, distant future, like Wednesday maybe. Stay warm, everyone.

If we get rain on top of this snow, we'll have a frozen mess on our hands.

I feel sorry for small dogs, who almost are buried in the drifts, when they are taken out. I took my dog out at 6 a.m. and then again at about 10 a.m. So he's OK for awhile. Rolling Eyes

Yeh, it'll get a lot worse once it starts to warm up and the show mixes with rain. Because then, of course, it'll cool down again and everything will freeze over. And one's driveway will become a skating a rink. People in the Mediteranean type of climates don't realize that a February thaw is not something to be looked forward to. It's a deadly menace. The snow on the ground thaws and then freezes over again and you've got some really dreadful conditions.

Here in the middle of Virginia we had about 9" of stuff. We were evidently on the edge, temperature-wise. So our goodly amount of snow was mixed with, pounded down and coated with ice.
We had plenty of food, duct tape and plastic sheathing. But no bird seed. I managed to pop the truck out of the driveway around noon and get to the store...and back.
There must be a hundred or so birds chowing down in our yard right now including, inexplicably, a flock of about 50 robins.
Everyone's invited to a party at ci's place in CA, where it's warm and dry. Is that cool with you, ci?

Glad to see you're all safe and sound after that awful snowstorm.

RJB: There's a place in heaven for you:) I'm sure your birds appreciated what you did for them.

Keep warm and cozy, and come down if you get tired of the cold:)

Misti -- whaddayamean after the snowstorm? It's going on in Boston right now. Slight respite as we speak. But it's fully expected to start up again and contnue throught the day tomorrow with wind gusts up to 50 mph possible. Right now, looking out, I'd say we've got about a foot of new snow. At least one more foot is expected, according to the weather bureau.

But I'm keepin' warm and keepin' indoors. I'm on vacation this week, too. Bummer.
