It seems to me that they lost.
From the BBC: "England claim crushing win
Australia lose their first home Test for four years as England's Sydney victory prevents a 5-0 whitewash."

There are 11 players in the team, so once 10 get out, the side is out because one batsman can't bat alone. Australia needed about 20 (batsmen) today. But it's good to see a game of cricket become a contest again.

Thanks Walter for the sad news.

And, Wilso, Oh Yay!!! That is the first thing about Cricket that has made perfect sense besides the egg-shaped field. Thanks so much! A moment of clarity in a gray day of fog. Cold too, 37F just now.

Sorry that the Ozzies lost. Condolences Margo. I hope you are well. I've just found out that Janet had Norwalk Virus... horribly contagious. If you're sick, know at least that you'll be well in 2-3 days. Hope you are NOT SICK.

Beautiful day here, but cold, and getting very cold tonight.

Well, I'm not complaining, at least it's warm in the daytime, and it only lasts a few days, if that.

Hope you're all keeping warm, sending some rays to yah!

We're heading into the hot part of summer now. I remember years ago when you could go in the sun half an hour before you started to feel it burn. Now it happens instantaneously. And I'm not the only person to notice.

More snow tonight. Seems like we've had snow every1-2 days since our really big storm (12-20 inches) on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Aussies would just say bloody cold - but it isn't - it's really warm and lovely: about 75-80 F, sunny, blue skies, light breeze.

Why the hell am I at work???? It's a cruel and unusual punishment!

margo, I'd find a good lawyer if I were in your shoes, and sue yourself for "cruel and unusual punishment." Make sure the lawyers get a good fee. c.i.

39 degrees Celsius (102 F to you NordAmericanos) out west in Sydney yesterday. Southerly Buster followed by some rain, JUST as I was leaving work to go home. Drive a man to drink,it would!
