Snow gone, humid, mid 40's, kinda gloomy. Who cares, yesterday was pretty, snowy and Christmas! Looking forward to New Years!

Unseasonably cold, 42F, sunny and mild.

Okay, El Nino, I've had enough, exit stage left!

Misti -- in these parts, 42 F this time of year would be considered "unseasonably warm." Right around freezing point right now, might go up one or two degrees, they say. In December in Boston, any time it's above the freezing mark, it's a glorious day.

So, how much snow have you got, Andy? Looks like upstate NY got hammered pretty good.

Here on the banks of the Belle Reviere (heh-heh <gulp> Sad ), we got a total of 3", I suppose, but frozen to where you can walk on it without leaving tracks. Warming up to mid-40's today with sun for the first time since last weekend. Rain and low-50's forecasted for Monday, which should put pay to the remnants of our white Christmas.

Boston proper didn't get hit that hard, D. Most of the accummuluation was west and south of the city. We got about 3" maybe, but the snow plows pushed it into drifts which makes the residue seem like more. But while it was coming down, we had near-blizzard conditions: fierce winds, big wet flakes blowing around like mad ballerinas doing a demnted pirrouette.

I'm tooling around in a little rented Avis car. My truck got nicked Christmas eve. Miss the standard shiift on that sucker more than anything else. A four-on-the-floor handles a lot better in snow and ice than an automatic transmission.

Hey, MA, too bad about your truck. Our son in Boston let his roommate drive his car. She promptly had an accident which is when she told him that she has no insurance. She did pay for the repairs, but his insurance company is now rumbling about canceling his coverage.

Today in Connecticut is glorious with snow on the ground, still pristine, and bright sunny skies. Our little town looks like a Currier and Ives painting. I love this time of year.

Diane, that sounds so gorgeous. Wish we had snow. It makes everything look clean and finished.

MA! What a crummy Christmas present? And no word about your truck? Geez, maybe the same people who took Deb's Subaru??? I hope you get it back. You probably heard about the guy over here in WA who was arrested after shooting the kid who stole his car? The kid died a couple of days later and now the guy whose car was stolen may be facing the rest of his life behind bars.

We've been getting warned about wind since early yesterday. Now, I think it is finally coming in. A huge gust JUST hit the trees which are now waving around like dancers in a ballet. Yikes.

Wow. Just got another big gust. I checked my WeatherBug and the temp has gone from 37 to 52 in about two hours. That last gust was clocked at 34 mph.

Haven't heard word from one from the police since I reported it missing. It's an old Toyota so I figure it was probably taken for parts. More'n likely it's already all broken up at some chop shop. What really steams me is that in the past year or less, I've sunk well over a grand in repairs -- new radiator, new battery, new distributor, new brakes, two new tires. The body was falling apart but for an old baby she handled like a racecar.

Ah, well. It's a nice sunny day in Beantown today. So, of course, I took the rental and drove straight out of town, up to NH where cigarettes are cheap and there's more snow on the ground. Nobody ever accused me of sanity.

MA, I've had old cars that were well cared for and just kept going long after they should have died. They become old friends. It really is a shame about your Toyota.
While you're in NH, would you pick up some Maker's Mark and Chambord for me? You're welcome to take a few taste tests. I'll pick them up the next time I'm in Boston visiting my son.
