@McTag,
Houses at the bottom of the hill near me have sandbags in place, and my rubbish bin has been blown away! Left it out for the dustmen and it's gorn.

Totally disparu'd.

@Lordyaswas,
You are really hit very hard in the UK ... and we didn't have any snow at all during this "winter" (but plenty snowdrops already).

@Walter Hinteler,
They certainly are. And folks in Australia are baking in 100+ temps for weeks on end. Craziness!

@Setanta,
Seriously, we had a big family discussion at Christmas ( in France ) and we promised ourselves that the family still residing in angleterre will do everything possible to get out there if we have another bleedin' soggy winter.

Well, a bleedin' soggy winter we have had, and at this very moment in time I am in the final legal stages of signing on a tiny fermette, and if all goes to plan, the next Noel will be very joyeaux, as the better half and I should be out from under the northern cloud cap.

Here comes the sun....doo doo doo doo.....here comes the sun and I say, C'est normal....doo doo doo dn doo doo dn doo doo doo doo.....

Snow started falling here in the mountains of Virginia around 5 pm. Heavy snow is predicted after midnight and on through mid-afternoon on Thursday.
Total accumulation forecasts are all over the place depending on which station one is listening to. 6" ... 12" ... 15" or more. It looks like it will be all snow, with ice from Richmond (70 miles to the east) and down towards the coast.
I am settling in for a day or more. A friend went Krogering for me today and filled my pantry with enough food for many days.
I liked the comment that a NC official made: "We'll be okay as long as people don't put on their Stupid hats."

@realjohnboy,
I can predict that more than 90% of the rollover accidents will involve SUVs.
I think the stupid hat factory is somewhere in Lancaster County

@Butrflynet,
Woke up this morning to hear that around 100,000 homes are without power, the Thames has flooded, there have been 100mph winds and my dustbin is still missing!

http://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/galleries/x701/39272.jpg

And there is another storm forecast for tomorrow, where we will get one months worth of rain in 24 hours.

Oh joy!

Keep calm and squelch on.....

Sorry to hear that, fm. Hope you didn't suffer any serious damage. Back pain sucks!

Lordy! Just shaking my head at all the rain you folks are experiencing this year.

Radar map above shows Thomas getting the brunt of it here now. I'm seeing reports that Raleigh and Charlotte "pulled an Atlanta" yesterday and didn't take the weather warnings seriously enough in advance.

Be careful out there, everyone. Stay safe!

Sounds painful, farmerman. I would definitely recommend a good rub down with a hot Beyonce.
