Just started snowing here after raining all morning. Accumulations of 2-8" expected but I don't believe it. It's not cold enough to stick.

They say it could get down to 49 tonight. We won't be stepping a foot outside Cool

Wood for the fireplace, check, heating blanket, check, we're all good over here.

Hottest day on record in Sydney yesterday 46.5C - 115.7F

Bloody hot it was! Aircon coped admirably. It's odd - we're a city on the east coast with normally moderate temperatures.

I think JC has some learning on being a dad...Antonio is a BOY, not a princess.

@margo,
It’s only going to get to a high of 68 today. I’ll keep a blanket around my shoulders all day. Cool

@jcboy,
With temps down in mid-40s here last night, I wondered whether or not you'd survive without setting a bonfire using the furniture in your house.

@Ragman,
It might have gotten that cold here, I haven't gone outside. If this cold weather keeps up we're going to have to give it some thought about moving south Cool

@jcboy,
Seriously...the beauty of this place (out side of the outrageous amounts of available sunshine) is that by 11am or noon it's at least 70 deg. However, I recognize that your joints start to thaw out at 72 .

Oh my gosh you guys are killing me.

It is COLD here. Actual cold. Teens cold, with windchills way below that.

I'm kind of over it. We had some snow which takes the edge off (if it has to be cold, snow gives it a little meaning), but I CAN NOT WARM UP. It's starting to really wear me down.

Last week our high temps in Albuquerque didn't get above freezing for several days. Today it is going to be 61 degrees and next week it is supposed to be in the high 30's again.

The plants are so confused...

@Walter Hinteler,
Just returned from Honolulu yesterday where it was 79-80 F. It's 20 degrees cooler here in Silicon Valley - with intermetant rain.

@cicerone imposter,
Sorry I missed you, c.i. Just couldn't arrange to island-hop in time. Weather's been chilly here on the Big Island last few days, around 60 degrees Fahrenheit most mornings. I'm wearing long-sleeved aloha shirts. Laughing

@Lustig Andrei,
You know the big Island is the only one I haven't been to. Is that normal for it to get that cold?

@Lustig Andrei,
Andy, Sorry we missed you guys too! My brother was at a medical conference on the big island, but he flew to Honolulu to spend a few hours with us. This was the very first time all of my siblings and I were on "vacation." Probably, also the last.

@jcboy,
In the winter months it's not all that unusual. At the higher elevations -- Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa -- you get snow most years. When I lived in the town of Volcano, we had a wood-burning stove and lit a fire every night. Some mornings in the winter the morning dew was actually a coating of frost. But here onthe seacoast, in Hilo, it may start as a cold morning but warm up to at least the high 70s by noon, usually warmer even in winter.
