@jcboy,
The forecasters are saying for the rest of today there's a 50% chance and for tomorrow there's little to no chance. Ive learned that ít really means at this point in the season is that someone in Tampa-Bay area is going to get wet.

Crazy April snow in Albuquerque! Days ago it was record breaking mid 80's, today an inch of snow and still falling. Tomorrow, we're back up to the mid 70's.

@Butrflynet,
Weather service reports tornadoes in Dallas area; damage reported south of Fort Worth
By Associated Press, Updated: Tuesday, April 3, 12:52 PM

BURLESON, Texas — Dallas Police say possible tornadoes have touched down in the southern part of that city as a band of severe weather moves through northern Texas.

Local television footage shows overturned and smashed semi-trailers on the ground in the southern portion of Dallas County. Dallas Police spokeswoman Sherri Jeffrey says twisters also have caused damage in the city limits.

Weather service advisories issued Tuesday said storm spotters and radar shows separate “large and extremely dangerous” tornadoes both south of Dallas and Fort Worth.

The weather service says “considerable damage” has been reported near Cleburne, south of Fort Worth, and Lancaster, south of Dallas.

@jcboy,
For now and in the future, plan ahead and work out where your safe place in the house will be if you need to shelter in place for storms. It should be a place without any windows and be the strongest structural place in the house. If you have a walk-in closet in the master bedroom, that's usually a good place.

You should have some practice drills with the whole family so everyone knows instantly where to go and what to do if the signal to go to the safe place is given by any of the adults.

Might be a good idea to do the same type of planning and drills for fire too. How is everyone in the house to get out if they can't go through the usual exits. Where will you all meet up once outside the house?

And now that you have a child in the house, it might be a good idea to have a family secret word so that anytime a third party has to relay a message to one of you, it can be validated by use of the secret word. For instance, someone approaches Anthony at school and tells him his parents have been in an accident and says he's to be picked up from school. If it is a valid request, the parents can give the person the secret word to tell Anthony and Anthony should be instructed to always ask for the family secret word if anyone other than a parent tries to take him somewhere.

@jcboy,
I hope all your new plants endure the storm.

Two days before our unexpected snow storm, I had gone out and purchased tomato plants and some perennials. All the weather reports just said we'd get cold temps and rain, no mention of snow.

Luckily I procrastinated about planting them and moved them to shelter under the patio awning before the big storm. Waiting to see what the next storm out of California is going to do before I plant them.

@jcboy,
Gawd knows how badly we needed it here in Paradise. I think we're at 20-25% of the normal rainfall for the year. At least some of the pollen is washed out of the air for awhile. This thing looks like it's almsot over already, though. It never stays long it seems this year.

My dog is huddling in my bedroom due to the thunder.
