So what was it today (Friday), Tico?
It was 55 when I left my house just before 7 am. It got up to 80.

112 degrees right now. I play an outdoor soccer game in 95 minutes. Wish me luck.

I thought only mad dogs and Englishmen went out in the midday sun?

In tropical climes there are certain times of day
When all the citizens retire,
to tear their clothes off and perspire.
It's one of those rules that the biggest fools obey,
Because the sun is much too sultry and one must avoid
its ultry-violet ray --
Papalaka-papalaka-papalaka-boo. (Repeat)
Digariga-digariga-digariga-doo. (Repeat)
The natives grieve when the white men leave their huts,
Because they're obviously, absolutely nuts --

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.
The Japanese don't care to, the Chinese wouldn't dare to,
Hindus and Argentines sleep firmly from twelve to one,
But Englishmen detest a siesta,
In the Philippines there are lovely screens,
to protect you from the glare,
In the Malay states there are hats like plates,
which the Britishers won't wear,
At twelve noon the natives swoon, and
no further work is done -
But Mad Dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

It's such a surprise for the Eastern eyes to see,
That though the British are effete,
they're quite impervious to heat,
When the white man rides, every native hides in glee,
Because the simple creatures hope he will
impale his solar topee on a tree.
Bolyboly-bolyboly-bolyboly-baa. (Repeat)
Habaninny-habaninny-habaninny-haa. (Repeat)
It seems such a shame that when the English claim the earth
That they give rise to such hilarity and mirth -

Mad Dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.
The toughest Burmese bandit can never understand it.
In Rangoon the heat of noon is just what the natives shun.
They put their scotch or rye down, and lie down.
In the jungle town where the sun beats down,
to the rage of man or beast,
The English garb of the English sahib merely gets a bit more creased.
In Bangkok, at twelve o'clock, they foam at the mouth and run,
But mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

Mad Dogs and Englishmen, go out in the midday sun.
The smallest Malay rabbit deplores this stupid habit.
In Hong Kong, they strike a gong, and fire off a noonday gun.
To reprimand each inmate, who's in late.
In the mangrove swamps where the python romps
there is peace from twelve till two.
Even caribous lie down and snooze, for there's nothing else to do.
In Bengal, to move at all, is seldom if ever done,
But mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

We have had thunderstorms here in Virginia two or three times a week recently. That is good.
It looks like hurricane Bertha will track north and pose no risk to the U.S. coast. One down.

eastern lake ontario :

Tonight : A few showers with thunderstorms ending early this evening then cloudy. 60 percent chance of showers overnight. Risk of a thunderstorm overnight. Wind southwest 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low 21.

has not been very hot so far - which means that mosquitoes and blackflies will stay active !
have to wear hat , long pants and long-sleeve shirt for gardening work AND spray clothing with plenty of OFF !
and we DO NOT live out in the country !

I've never tried that E. Is it any good?

It was grey and overcast here most of the day but the sun did peep through every now and again so it wasn't so bad really now that my attention has been led to consider the matter.

well I'm supposed to be going to the Spotted Dog for lunch. Heat and sun stroke will not be a problem today. Death by drowning pneumonia or hypothermia is a possibility. Think I'll give it a miss.

I planted more flowers in the pouring rain.
City water just keeps things alive.
All the rain this summer has made for a glorious garden, and magnificent flowers.

Quite a change to Walter's picture - it has been snowing for a night and a day. It is winterwonderland in the south of Germany and I am getting ready for Christmas....

Not snowing in the Northeast U.S. yet but last three or four days have been brutally cold. The mercury has not risen above the freezing mark even at high noon. A warming trend is expected starting tomorrow (Monday) and if there's any precipitation by Wednesday it's expected to be rain, not snow.

The weather in our area is very pleasant - around 65 degrees. I even worked in the yard to clean up some of the fallen leaves, and filled three garbage can full.

Will wait till next week to do the same.

@cicerone imposter,
Don't be too optimistic, c.i. I don't know what the forecast in your neck of the woods is, but we had temps in the 60s and even 70s here just a week ago. Then -- whammo! -- it drop to below freezing literally overnight.
