It's snowing here. Wasn't forecast, so I expect we'll get plenty.

Can someone answer this weather q?
What weather condition causes landscape in the distance to be clearly defined and able to be seen? I was told it was a harbinger of bad weather and would like to know how and why.

It's a balmy 10c in my shaded back yard and a glorious, sunny day out front.
It's the first time this year I've wanted to complete a perimeter walk and examine the gardens for growth.
I'll crack a beer shortly and park myself in the lounger to witness the passersby, of which today, appear to be a number.
Lots of strollers.

People here in Germany now get fed up with snow, even those in the traditional ski regions!
In the hills/mountains just 25 miles south of us, they have snow now since more than four months - still up to 1.3 meter on the highest mountains.
And it snowed even here today again!
From Deutsche Welle:
Quote:
Snow's not exactly a rare commodity in Germany these days as large parts of the country are buried under a thick white layer. But a mayor from a small town in eastern Germany still hopes to find buyers for the crystals.
It's been one of the snowiest winters in Germany. Folks in Munich, for example, must be pretty sick and tired of the white splendor by now as heaps of snow have prevented garbage trucks to make their rounds for days.
Reports on the status of trash collection in Steinach, population 4,800, have not made national headlines so far. But at least the town's mayor still seems to be able to look at the bright side of things.
That's what my brother said this morning, Walter: They're
so fed up with snow!!
Here it is cold, miserable and raining. Yes, we need the
rain, but it's not supposed to rain in southern California,
as the famous song has promised us

We had rain and temperatures up to +8°C on Thursday, then a bit colder on Friday. Now it is snowing again with strong winds. My head feels like it's going to explode soon!
How's your peach tree doing, dys? Did you really get snow?
CJ, I try to feel sorry for you but it is hard ;-)

Well, it was good here, while it lasted. Temps have been in the mid teens for the last few days but are expected to drop to about 2c tomorrow.
We might avoid snow.
Snow on a blossoming peach tree might be pretty for a minute.

Today was the first day that felt a bit like spring! Yeah! Sunshine! Temperatures not freezing - although still pretty cold. But I was not wearing my Timberland boots but my nice cowboy boots from Denver!

Beautiful, crisp March day here after keen frost.Sky only about 30% vapour trails.
Why can't these sophisticated international jet setters get moving a bit faster and completely cover over the sky so the sun's not as dazzling and the lawns won't need mowing so often and the heat will be kept in instead of escaping into space.

I was walking back from the pub the other night, it was clear and the stars shining, when I suddenly realised quite a few of them were not so much twinkling as flashing different colours. All aircraft of course. I think I counted 15 in the sky at one time.

Update.
Half of our sky is now 70% covered.
I just met a guy who was sunbathing and had to stop when this traveller-made cloud passed over the sun.We had a brief discussion and he told me that half the kids in the vicinity of Heathrow (Death row more like) have asthma and bronchitis. If that is true I expect it is the same everywhere else.
Without it we would have a clear blue sky for the first time in weeks.
He told me that pilots dump unburnt fuel for safer landings.
It's a national disgrace. These self-indulgent cheap-fare travellers ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Who knows what the real cost of their stupid,self-defeating whims will be.
And there they are jollying each other along with infantile small talk.
Edit in mid-afternoon update.
The whole south western half of the sky is now smudged with a grey mist through which I can see a wan sun.The north-eastern half is brilliant blue.

I woke up this morning to see more snow...
But the weekend is supposed to be warmer, although with lots of rain. I do prefer rain to snow! And my brother is coming from Atlanta. He does not want any snow at all...

We're going into the 85F's this weekend and next week, with still no rain in sight. Central Florida is once again arid, lots of brown grass in dire need of moisture, and the ever-looming threat of forest/brush fires.
Looking forward to our summer afternoon thunder storms, hopefully we will get them this year

It was a beautiful day in Virginia, today. Temp maybe hit 70. Perhaps we have broken winter's back.
But, like Misti in FL, it is dry. No significant rain in six or eight weeks. This could get bad.

We could send you all some water! Parts of Germany are once again flooded because all the snow is melting and it is raining a lot.
