Tis true, I was in one typhoon while in Japan, will never forget it, Typhoon Trix, 1971. They took all the pregenant women to the hospital just in case. Apparently the barometric changes can bring on labor.
Here's the latest on the super typhoon in Guam. There are thumbnail pictures on the right side of the page, and if you click "enlarge" under each, it takes you to a whole series of pictures of the damage:

Thanks for that link, Matrix.
Monday night, candle night. We'll add one for our friend/s in Guam.
Hi, Beth...
You're welcome, and absolutely re the candles!
Add me to the list of people worried about pueo. If anybody hears from him, please post it to this forum. c.i.
Hi, c.i. ...
You got it! I know that Pueo was also involved in littlek's thread called "What BOOK are you reading right now?" and I've asked about him there, too, but nobody has heard from him there yet, either. It will probably take some time before we hear from him, but even after they've had the huge earthquakes down there, Pueo has been very good to his friends here and has popped in as soon as he could just to let us know he's okay...If he shows up on the Rainforest thread on Abuzz will post that here, and visa versa.
He hasn't shown yet? <stew, worry, fret>
Hi, littlek...
Did you look at the pictures at the link above? They really have a mess down there.
Margo, we've got to reverse this rain dance thangy ! It hasn't stopped raining here all day long, and it's supposed to keep on going for a few days! Yikes!!
Turn your partner dosey do?
i'd dance naked for ya Misti but it's a bit to cold here. if i only had that hot tub...
Excuses, Excuses, damn it!
I believe that Pueo is OK, but is very busy doing important things to help others. Computer and phone time may be limited too.
However, K is right. <stew, fret, worry>
It's lightly sprinkling here. I think I'll water some plants. They were expecting a good dousing. That's the way I'll get rain -- I start watering.
In the normal course of the day I have to fill two horses' troughs, a fountain, and a birdbath. I like it when it rains hard and fills 'em!
Well, we've finally had some rain here - not enough to break the drought, really, but enough to put out the most raging of the bushfires. It's been pretty widespread, but mostly a fine, misty sort of rain. We could do with a couple of days of torrential downpours. The big trees will still be burning in this weather.
And, of course, my car died the previous night, so I had to get to work by public transport, for the first time in 10 years. No fashionable outfit and useless umbrella for me - I jut dug out my sailing jacket - blue and hooded, so at least I was dry.
Piffka, My personal thanks for sharing the good news on pueo. I'm going to keep my vigil until we personally hear from him; to learn that he is okay - safe and sound. c.i.
Am I misreading something? Didn't Piffka sat she "believes" that Pueo is ok, not that she knows this for a fact? I believe this, too, but I don't know anything for a fact.
I think MA is correct in his translation. And, I agree. Doesn't look like there were many casualties - a lot of damage and mess though.
More prayers for pueo.....
Agreed. Piffka only stated what she "believed" not what she knows for a fact.
I checked on the Rainforest thread at Abuzz, and Pueo still hasn't checked in there either, so along with the rest of you I'll just wait and hope that we hear from him soon and that he and all that is dear to him is okay. As stated before, if I see a post from him there I will copy and paste it here.
