eastern lake ontario : finally some rain ! since the beginning of may we've hardly had any rain - lowest rainfall since 1921, just a trickle. everything greening up quickly, and the air is much fesher.
we had 21 days with "pollution warning" since the beginning of may, more than we had in all of 2004. this may turn out to be a nasty summer, particularly for people with asthma and breathing difficulties. hbg

weather or not
noddy : you asked about ontario's "tornado alley".
while we don't get the kind of tornadoes that hit the southern and mid-west u.s. , we do have our own "tornado alley" that runs roughly from about windsor - opposite detroit - , passes north of toronto and stretches as far as ottawa and even the province of quebec. it runs somewhat parallel and about 50 to 100 miles to the west of lake ontario. so may we get little or no rain where we are - right on lake ontario - , whereas 50 miles to the north there may be heavy rains.
here is an article that explains our "own" tornado alley >>> ...ONTARIO'S TORNADO ALLEY...

hamburger--

Thanks for the tornado information. I saw a tornado at close quarters once and have developed a curiosity about that form of chaos.

Went to Norwich yesterday thought it would be cooler. No.

Really hot.

Woke this morning to learn of the flooding in Yorkshire. No sign of any rain here, but Mrs Steve just says thunder in distance.

Radio news more concerned about offending potatos by phrase "couch potato". Farmers want it banned from dictionary

eastern lake ontario : absolutely beautiful weather, 22 C, little humidity, blue skies. yesterday was a little on the cool side, high of 20 C and some clouds, perfect for a long - five hour - drive along the st. lawrence river, turned north to drive through the backcountry, made some stops in little villages for ehbeth to take pix of wall-murals, stopped in "brewer's mills" along the rideau canal and were home by 4 p.m.
tomorrow it will start to heat up again, 28 C and high humidity. hbg

No thunderstorms here, Walter!

I wore one of the dresses today. It was perfect for this weather. :-)

Steve, yes, two! I just couldn't make up my mind. And it will be hot tomorrow, too. I absolutely needed two dresses - at least!

Please keep your fingers crossed for hot and dry weather - no thunderstorms - in Balingen on Friday and Saturday!

too hot.

Now lets see, Balingen... takes a few minutes for route to work out....... ok .12 km turn right. 1.5 km turn left..2.4 straight on, bear left at round about, 14 km right onto motorway, 37 miles into sea, err swim quite a long way...pull car and life raft out of sea at Ostende. Carry on eastwards until see signs for GERMANY ....(am I nearly there yet?)
