It’s not the insurgency that’s killing American soldiers. The insurgency is simply acting as any resistance movement would, trying to rid their country of foreign invaders when all the political channels have been foreclosed. American’s would behave no differently if put in a similar situation and Iraqi troops were deployed in our towns and cities. Ultimately, the Bush administration bears the responsibility for the death of every American killed in Iraq.

Oh really? So all the "freedom fighters" streaming in from Syria are Iraqis? What about al-Zarkoui? Is he an Iraqi freedom fighter? Sure there are bands of Iraqis involved and those are the ones who want the democratic process to fail.

For the record, I think Bush is a four star coward. This war could have been over along time ago, but our president lacks the balls and the moral conviction to do what is needed in times of war....win.

Whatever. Hide behind your invective and avoid the issue. That's how the left has lost it's power. Bitch and mewl.

The issue is the war in Iraq and how it can be won. Address it or go home.

good question, infra. we're told that americans will remove when the iraqis are ready to take care of business. that doesn't seem to be coming along so well.

i think it was either abazaid or casey that commented that it would take 10 years to eliminate the insurgency.

are americans prepared to continue with this involvement, or higher, for the next 10 years ?

i don't see how there will be a simultaneous withdrawl from all of iraq. most likely it would be more like a province by province or regional pull out. and that would take a fair amount of time.

Will this end up as the longest war for the US? After all, 10 years is only a guesstimate by those that seem to have some knowledge about this issue.

Right. And "Kill the enemy or do nothing and die" is such a detailed and thoughtful reply.

Who is the enemy?

Do you mean 'kill the enemy, and a bunch of people who happen to look somewhat like the enemy?'

Because that seems to be a much better description of what is happening.

The brutal reality of war is, and has always been, that innocents are killed in the pursuit of the enemy. When you're faced with an enemy that specializes in blending in with the civilian populace -not to mention their complete willingness to kill their fellow Muslims- then the answer is crystal clear if not very tasteful. Yes, you must lay waste to large cities that are known harbors for terrorists. Frankly, the Muslim world has never been too willing to help expose these animals even when they're killing other Muslims. Of course, you'll recoil in horror that a military actually kill people in order to achieve an objective. Of course, you're totally unprepared to accept that victory means annihilation of the enemy and that annihilation is exacted at an extremely high price. Of course, you'll refuse to face the fact that the Muslim world respects and expects brutal savage force as the rule of law. Of course, the only acceptable recourse for you is the capitulation of the United States to the filthy, vile -and illegal- United Nations.

Well...since your President is such a gutless coward, you'll likely get your wish.

Did that sufficiently answer your question?
