Sen. Barack Obama
Quote:In the immediate aftermath of the hurricane, I think it's important that we don't just assume that George Bush is lying when he says he's finally been awakened to the fact that there is poverty and racism in our midst," said Obama, D-Ill. "It's tempting to do so, especially when he decides to put Karl Rove in charge of reconstruction.
Bush didn't actually say that, did he?
I know he's not the brightest bulb on the tree, but there has to be at least minimal voltage there.
Or maybe not.
Shades of his dad and the grocery store scanning device...both are as out of touch with commoners as you can get.
Gus, sweet thing, you would give Bush credit for having more sense???
I got skunked by a seeming comment from Pat Robertson within the last day or two - hey, it seemed to fit. Now I am learning to look harder at whatever website the bit is from.
There is a lot of constructing going on.
Not that Obama's quote is off, I presume that one was checked well.
Lots of interesting quotes in the news lately, I just ran across this one from Barbara Bush on the plighto f the "refugees" in New Orleans
Quote:""(they) were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them
."
Oh, dys, that is old now.
Champs at her bit...
I am not that good at searching but here is a link to an article with Obama's quote and where he was at and other things he had to say. Others will probably find a better source.

Thanks revel.
Man, I like that guy...
The only shame is that Obama is too green for 2008.
I was thinking the same thing -- maybe that fits into the zeitgeist though, especially as the scandals and the mismanagement stack up. Out with the old, in with the newnewnew...
Hmmm...good point. He WILL have four years in the Senate by 2008, that may be enough.
Of course, we are talking at the bottom of the ticket, I assume. Clinton-Obama? Wow! A woman and an African-American!
I think it's time for a person like Obama to be President of the United States. We really do need fresh blood and his freshness is uplifting.
So far, so good. We'll have lots of time to look him over, between now and then.
If Obama ran and was elected in 2008, I believe he would be the youngest besides JFK, who had eight years experience in the Senate before moving on to the Presidency.
I would not hesitate to vote Obama in today if I could. What would be interesting is if he were matched up against McCain.
Or both of 'em!
Freshness + experience + integrity by the bushelful. OOooooohhh....!
Hmm. I'd hate to waste Obama on '08. I think he would do a good job, and run a good race, but there is something to be said for political maturity and waiting for one's moment.
Cycloptichorn
He would be worth waiting for.
In the meantime ... any other really decent candidates out there?
