Some progress did my 3rd 25 mile mountain bike ride in 86 mins, thats 7 minutes faster than the first and 4 mins faster than last week. Attacked the hills and made up most of the time on the first 8.5 miles which is really one big hill.

yesterday did 30 mins of this new weight session based on 3 x circuits of 8 exercises, working all the major muscles-its great. Followe this with 2500m rower in 9 mins 30 secs and 30 mins of cross trainer-level 17

A good weekend Very Happy

Well, I am officially 32 lbs. lighter, and back in the safe zone for my BMI, mostly diet, and light exercise. I don't have the discipline for safecracker's workout Laughing but I am happier.

Hiama--

Good for you! I've found that when determined you can out run (or out cycle) anger.

Right now the local score is:

Civilization: 6
Barbarians: 5

I'm not losing, but I'm not gorging, either. Keep running in your dominion.

I will Noddy,

Your note about Civilization reminds me of the old Gandhi comment:

Reporter to Gandhi

" What do you think of Western Civilization ?"

Gandhi to reporter: " I think it would be a good idea ! "

Its been a while so I thought I would post something.

As I have got reasonably fit I have decided to put it to some use and next September I am doing a Triathlon, thats 1.5k swim in the sea, 40k bike and 10k run.

I have just strated my schedule which is currently 3 x 1000m swims a week, 3 x bike between 15-25 miles, 3 runs when I am not injured that is of around 4-7 miles and 2 weight sessions of 30 mins a week.

Its all Gautam's fault so blame him Very Happy

Oh by the way my weight which was 230 lbs on April 1st is now 200 lbs exactly and going down by around 2 lbs a week so by Christmas I will have reached my personal target weight of around 180 lbs, maybe even down to 176 lbs or 80kg.

peeking in to feel a nudge of encouragement. and i do! although i have been good - wrapped my life around a scarsdale diet (low fat low carb, basically just fruit, veggies, fish and chicken) i have not had time to exercise. i too wanted to train for boston marathon next spring, but somehow i slept through times when i was supposed to train. but reading hiama's stellar success story i will get back on my feet pronto and dust off those weights, stepper and such. way to go, hiama!

low carb......carbs are energy, you want more medium carb then anything. just realize the difference between good carbs and bad carbs.

Hiama--

Again, congratulations.

I'm just about to pronounce an Official Weight of 139. I'm past my last dreary plateau and losing slowly. I've had another bout of anemia which makes it difficult to summon the energy for exercise. My last blood work was normal which eliminates that excuse.

Dagmaraka--

My rulebook says as long as you are living a revised diet, you're still in the game.

Hold your dominion.

Time to check in again and confess that I'm larger than I've ever been before!

Working away from home and holidays to France and America (both involved significant enjoyment of food) have left me weighing 230 lbs (104 kg)... Shocked ...7lbs added in 10 days in the US...but I did stop smoking just before, so that's out of the way...able to get fitter.

I'm aiming for a significant reduction in that to achieve about 190 lbs (86 kg) by next summer.

That'll need a much restricted diet and lots of exercise, so I'm planning to join a gym this week and look at having a personal trainer to get me motivated (initially, at least).

First target is to get down to 95 kg by the end of January, when I plan to go skiing (allowing me to sink a little less in powder snow!).

I'll keep you all informed of my progress.

This is the only thread on which I'm happy to say "Well done, Losers"!!!

Kitchen Pete--

Perhaps some of those seven pounds are water weight, due to airplane bloat, and will literally melt away?

Meanwhile, your intentions are clear and your heart is good. Hold your dominion.

Dags,

Thanks and stay committed, consistency is the key.

Pete, come on fella if a blubber whale like me can do it so can you, its all about making it a habit. The gym kick started me, I only go twice a week now for my weight session, which is a brilliant circuit I got from the web which exercises all the major muscle groups in 8 exercises, I've also added two of my own-pecs and biceps curl. Most of the time I'm in the pool or out on the road, will stay off running until completely healed this time. I also do the odd 40-50 push ups and sit ups whenever I get the urge which is getting pretty regular.

Noddy, well done on the weight loss, good news on the blood count, hold your dominion, I've never let go of mine

If anyone has any advice on getting my front crawl to be more smooth I would welcome it, coming to terms with the breathing at the moment as I am a bit of a novice at swimming so spending most of my time on this at present.

Very Happy
