Well, the Lovely Bride bought us a scale.
The beastly contraption indicated that my weight was 178.2 this morning.
So much for "hovering around 170."

Hiama, nice workout on the rower!

Dammit, my beinbg wined and dined in Switzerland for 2 weeks has resulted in a 3lb gain. So painful to take off, so easy and pleasurable to put on. Sad

Mac--

What dates.

Hiama--

Good, solid start--congratulations.

George--

Ending illusions is always painful--but you started running before you were officially disillusioned.

Clary--

The wages of sin...

EhBeth--

I'm visualizing you shimmying along sideways along the Sidewalks of New York in the best Egyptian fashion.

Mr. Noddy's bargain scales still have more flexibility than I'm happy with, but I hit 117.5 this morning.

I'll giving myself a week of pampering and self-indulgence after two months of fretting, but next week....

The leaf buds on the oak trees here start opening about the 1st of May. Perhaps by then I'll be 112, lean, limber and coordinated.

I tried to be healthy and bought some fish the other day.I bought mackeral which I love, and sprats, got the sprats home only to realise I dint know what to do with them.
So I just cut the relevant bits off and cooked it in a frying pan, didnt eat most of them as there were little bones in it.Are they ok to eat and what can I add to them to make them taste good.

mackerel, get it filleted and then wrap it in foil or baking paper and do it in the oven, the least fattening method; it's a rather oily fish so not very good on the calorie count but good for you, undoubtedly

I gained 0.4 pounds at weigh-in yesterday, probably due to a couple of social occasions. But whatever the cause, I'm going to use the gain as a reason to switch up my exercise plan.

My plan is to go to the gym every day (only went five days last week), and to gradually switch from the exercise bike to the elliptical. Yesterday I did 20 minutes on the treadmill, then 10 minutes on the elliptical and 20 on the bike. Plus 10 or 15 minutes with the free weights and machines.

Mac--

Good for you.

My weight has gone from 117.5 to 121.5 to 119.5.

I do not like the scales--particularly since Mr. Noddy's weight remains consistant--although he doesn't want to say of what the consistancy consists.

I'm working it. Good progress through this week -- now I just have to make it through the weekend without sabotaging myself.

Our new scale claims to measure percentage of body fat.
I hope it's wrong.

Yeah, I have one of those too. I freak myself out enough with the weight readings, I don't need to know the other bad news.

Only five days of exercise last week, Mac says. Just five.

Sigh.

(I haven't made anything happen there, yet. Going to call the place that hasn't gotten back to me RIGHT NOW.)

Don't kick yourself, soz. I have more free time than most people! I used to spend lots more time on the couch (and in front of the computer) than I do now.

Come to think of it, I think I still spend the same amount of time on the couch & computer. What I seemed to have given up is sleeping. Confused I really need to work that out. It would probably help my weight loss if I were getting enough sleep.

Agree on getting enough sleep making a difference, mac. I always seem to be hungry when I'm tired. I'm currently in a high-stress cycle. To avoid eating all evening, I've been going to bed around 9:00. The downside is that I've been waking up at 3:30 - 4:00 and can't get back to sleep. At least I've kept myself from getting up at that hour to eat.

Soz, I was reading a fitness magazine yesterday that had an article about the lapsed "resolutioners" getting back on track. Now is a great time to re-pledge and get back into the gym.

First, I am NOT a "resolutioner"! I was in a great groove back last summer, but that lapsed when I got sick, and have been trying to get back into it since.

Second, progress! I actually called upon submitting the "right now" post, and have been on the phone all this time. Went really well. Got lots of good info and got a special deal for a one-week free trial and then a carried-over no-sign-up-fee deal that is supposed to expire before the end of the trial. This place is nearby and has plenty of parking.

Parking is what just didn't seem resolvable at the place I've been going without throwing a lot of money at the problem, more money than I was willing to throw. Or time. Also not willing. (I could drive to a nearby mall, park there, take a bus to the workout place, and take a bus back to my car, which would add another hour or so to the total time compared to if I was allowed to park in the nearby parking garage. Grrr. Just don't have time for that.)

Anyway, have an appointment to go check this place out -- haven't been inside yet -- then will do the one-week free trial and go from there.

Laughing Ok, sure, uh huh <just teasing>. Anyway, the article said that anyone who gets back into the gym in March has a much better chance of sticking with it than not.
