My new person trainer (who I had only spoken on the phone and, with the kind of luck I have, was expecting to be a 300 pound muscled gorilla) turned out to be one of the most stunning men I have ever met, tall, slim, 25 yr old Aussie, who wears YSL underwear (now don't ask how I found *that* out)

I guess that will provide the motivation (plus the fact that he charges £45 per hour)

i tried a bunch. without motivation, nothing works. with motivation, one needs no pills or shakes.

that said, i was quite happy with Slimquick - i was never hungry at all, boosted my energy even, no side effect. It's mostly natural stuff - gingko, green tea extracts, godknowswhatelse (though it also does have a high amount of caffeine - which i noticed on days when i forgot to take the pill... headache, but i get that when i forget to drink coffee anyway.).

MG, the only over the counter(at least was OTC here in the US, in UK it's prescription I believe) that has shown to be effective in weight loss is ephedrine. They actually banned it here now. Anyway, it works, but it's a stimulant that may not be good for you, depending on you.

Other than that, you gotta rely on diet. Shakes can obviously help as an easy meal replacement, if you get the right kinds. But you can't rely on them to lose weight either. Everything else I've seen marketed as diet pills are absolutely worthless, you're better off throwing money out the window.

Material Girl--

I'm not qualified as an Eastern Mystic, but a good bit of hunger in those of us who are well-upholstered is illusion.

About the middle of May I was under considerable stress and fell off the wagon, gaining two pounds in 10 days. Spiced, salted summer sausage is one of my weaknesses and when I'm feeling sorry for myself I can eat two Whoopie Pies (550 calories each) at a sitting.

For the last week I've been re-educating my clamouring tummy that just because I'm passing the refrigerator I don't need to open the door and scarf down goodies. Yes, I know there are spice drops in the cupboard and the spice drops can stay in the cupboard. One can stop eating kettle cooked potato crisps after three delectable crisps.

Hunger will pass. Drink plenty of water or low calorie liquid and march 50 steps in place before you serve your greedy gut a delectable little high-sugar, high-fat snack.

Plan on sleeping well tonight--you've earned it.

My memory has it that when ever I glut out I am hungrier than usual the next day. The stomach, I am guessing, gets used to a certain level of fullness for satiation - but I also remember that that changes fast. If you eat less than you used to and do it consistently, the stomach and whatever mechanism triggers hunger signals changes to fit the lower amount of food.

I say this in my confident way (today, for now) as I just broke the famous 170 barrier, down to 169. Two months, four pounds. That's the speed I like to lose at; now to keep it going.

I deposited the "fat pants" in the St Vincent dePaul collection bin this
morning. This afternoon I took Clive and Nigel to a local gym that is
offering a special 3-month rate. We enrolled. Clive respresents a real
challenge as he has hypotonia. It is very difficult for him to gain muscle
mass. He looks like a stick. But I am hoping that working out with
weights will help him (and me). We are trying to push the scales in
opposite directions.

attagirl and a buncha attaboys!

goodbye fat pants. someone else will be very happy to make that score.

Belly dance class started on Thursday. My teeth hurt yesterday morning. Things were fine by the afternoon. I mastered a very minor shimmy. I'm not quite ready for the coined belt.

lost some weight over the few weeks - grey pants definitely loose now. don't even know how, other than moving, not sleeping, working overnights, not snacking, living mostly on coffee, and joining a new boxing club, where they wrung me out three times already. huh, i guess that explains some of that.

Have been at the same job for two years now and all of my coworkers and me are disgusted with ourselves. We are blessed with clients who send us food all the time with their thanks, but we've really had enough! And there is always someone walking around looking for chocolate (nine women? I think so.....). Rolling Eyes

I am going on a cruise with one of them in September. We put our foots (!) down a few weeks ago and so far I've lost eleven pounds.

We all love fresh foods and have been bringing in fruit and salads ~ of all makes and models. Drinking water like there's no tomorrow. One bathroom with nine women ~ imagine that!

Our office is very fast-paced and we're trying to stay away from foods that make us sleepy.....I've noticed my metablism increasing quite a bit. My legs even move in my sleep.....although that may be a medical disorder! (The cats enjoy chasing me though!)

Eleven pounds and counting! Here I come, Bahamas! Cool

I've hit the body dysmorphia phase, oh joy. Yesterday, comparing to where I started, "Wow, I look great!" Today, comparing to where I want to be, "Ack, I look awful!"

This is my fourth time of purposely losing weight; one of 'em was just through feeding a hungry baby after she was born, the other two were through exercise, and this always happens when I'm exercising... just have to keep on truckin', and I'll get there. (Worked out for an hour today, intensively, ouchie.)

Keep it up, Sozobe! Most people give up after their first threshold has been met! The body needs to rest! I'm sure I'm not telling you something you don't know already.....Sorry!

Keep up the good work, anyway! Very Happy

With the threat of storms from 'Alberto' (if it's named by tomorrow) I'm looking forward to a good dose of coffee with fat-free chocolate creamer (from Nestle) and cleaning my house! Even with a compression fracture, and a roommate who won't lift a finger to help. Twisted Evil

Careful there Rae!

Hope Alberto stays well away from you. (Man, already, hope he doesn't get to name-strength...)
