I'm doing well this week, 174 this morning which is exactly where I was on 4/26 when we left for New Orleans. If I can lose a pound or two by Wednesday and actually lose weight over this three week period it will be a miracle, but that's what I'm shooting for.

Miracles do happen! I'm at 172 today, which was my target for Friday. I seldom lose anything over a weekend, but I should be able to see 171 by next week some time.

How's it going, George?

It goes well.

Yesterday I got in a good thirty-minute workout on the rower.
Supper was cashew shrimp & chicken with bok choy and a small serving
of rice. I allowed myself a couple of ginger snaps later.

After days and days of unrelenting rain, THE SUN IS OUT!!!

I'm looking forward to a very pleasant jog at noon.

In short, I'm right behind you going into the turn, looking to pass you on
the straightaway.

I finally caught up with some scales after 3 months just being, not eating if I didn't feel like it, having local specialities across southern Europe etc etc and guess what? 2 lbs lighter.

May I ask what the finish line is in this race between J_B and yourself? I must have missed it.

My goal was to get to 171. I said that if I reached it, I would toss out the
pants I wore ten or fifteen pounds ago. Now J_B has challenged me to a
race to see which of us can reach 171 first. No matter who wins, the
pants go into a collection bin once one of us crosses the finish line.

171, eh? I thought I'd see some more racing here, but you two are almost done.

I wish I could say the same of myself. If I ever should lose motivation to lose weight, please remind me to go back to the Chicago thread and take a look at the pictures there. It's weird how I always have this reaction of "my, these pictures make me look fat!", followed by "hmmm ... everybody else looks pretty realistic, maybe it isn't the pictures' fault after all." Seems like a safe way to get me back onto the wagon.

That was a quick 5 lbs, Thomas!

171 isn't my final goal, it's just a good place to shoot for quickly because I know the last five will be a struggle. I'm not unhappy at 171, which is 8 lbs less than I was in all the Chicago pictures, but I'm much happier under 170. If I can get to 171 by next week then I have hopes of getting down to 166-67 by the end of June.

Good job everyone with the workouts. Isn't it amazing how weather affects our moods?

I was down 2.6 at today's weigh-in (vs. two weeks ago at the last WW meeting) which brings me to 78.8 down!

I was so pleased that I went shopping...new jeans, two tops, black shorts. Very Happy

Thanks for noticing. I tend to lose weight very quickly during the first week of restoring discipline. After that I usually plateau for 2-3 weeks, then lose about a pound per week. We'll see how it goes this time.

Actually you looked nice in Chicago to begin with. Nevertheless, good job on those 6 pounds since Chicago, and good luck on your 166-67 target.

Thomas, the fact that you put it on quickly and then jumped right back into your routines should help it come off quickly as well. Much better than if you'd flipped at what you saw on the scale and turned to the refrigerator for solace. You'll be looking at '4s' in no time!

That was very nice, Thomas, thank you.

This morning I realised I have a weekend full of eating on the horizon. M is making her Affirmation on Sunday (comparable to a Confirmation or Bat Mitzvah) which includes a women's breakfast on Saturday, an all Affirmation Class dinner Saturday night, and a family celebration dinner on Sunday. Also on Saturday is our annual village bbq at noon. I need to have a couple banner days today and tomorrow just to hold even at 172 on Monday.

George, I won't count 171 if I get there this week because the likelihood of maintaining it through the weekend is nil.

Mac, Thomas--

Congratulations. Any extra ounces that pop up this week are from me hanging onto your coat tails for inspiration.

J_B--

I think M's Affirmation is in part a tribute to your parenting. Just don't go overboard with self-congratulations.

My weight is holding steady so far, even though tension is high.

Finally got myself a good padded knapsack with enough room for my work transit junk.

Wore it in today (gotta get it adjusted just right).

Next week I start my next step in this game - getting off the subway one stop earlier than usual and walking home.

~~~~~~~~
One of my work buddies, R, will be starting her herbal detox next week. We'll let you know if it's as helpful for weight loss as promised.
