Well if I ate a lot and didn't work out, I'd get fat. It's hard to keep putting on more muscle after gaining a good chunk over the past 6-7 years or so.
yeah, that i can see.
ok, off i go. nervous a bit. i'm sure i'll live though.
Hope Dag's having fun!
So, I went to find an excersize tape, realized that I had a dvd out that was due back tonight. I had just enough time to watch it and make it back to the store before it closed (at 11 - I thought they said). I jumped around for a few minutes and did stretches, situps, leg lifts while I started the movie. Before it was done, I had to leave in order to get back before the store closed (I swear they said 11). 3 seperate roads between me and the store were closed due to downed wires/branches. The storm is wild right now. I made it! Hey, why's it look closed.... damn. So, was it worth watching Team America enough so that I paid for renting it twice? I don't think so.
Why is Dag nervous...on a date? As long as you tell him upfront you're putting out, that takes away the initial jitters.
How was Team America?
I dunno. I think S Park is funny. I thought this one had a couple halfway funny moments. Mostly it was stoopid. Maybe I held too high hopes for it.
So, so for me. I don't keep a record of what I eat, but I do know it I have done well or not during the course of the day. For the past couple of days, I've been fine. Today, I ate a big slice of rustic bread that contains olives and gruyere cheese. YUM!
Since then, asparagus soup I made yesterday and cottage cheese. Pretty good for me. Excersise is still not happening but I have been stretching. It's a start.
Seeing pictures of our Europe trip made me realize just how much I have gained during the past year. Sigh, I lost quite a lot of weight about three years ago and had kept if off. It crept back on while I wasn't looking. Phooey.
Phoenix, you are a miracle worker if you can still diet while dealing with your mother. Stress is a signal for me to eat carbs and candy. Good for you for sticking with the diet.
I actually went to the gym last night,Im the right side of 12stone but sadly nowhere near 10stone.
Check-in day (Week 1)
Starting weight: 175
Present weight: 174
This week's change: -1
Total change: -1
I'm falling behind schedule already.
Monday & Tuesday were killers.
I took my mother into Boston for cataract surgery Monday and then back
again Tuesday for the post-op follow-up. Happily, Mom's doing great.
Unhappily, my workouts were squeezed out. Plus I took her out for lunch
both days and... well... you know.
Rain or no rain, today I jog!
Starting weight: 131
Weight this morning: Somewhere between 129 and 126. I had one of my violent intestinal episodes yesterday, but I was edging towards 128. Meanwhile, the water weight will return.
Green Witch--
Anatomy, particularly anatomy-with-history is destiny. Probably the seasonal ebb and flow of extra pounds used to be a survival factor 200 years ago.
Littlek--
Exercise. Teach your charges to count your reps.
Diane--
Easy on....and hard to remove. Courage!
Material Girl--
Keep at it.
George--
One pound gone is 16 ounces gone. Ounce by ounce by ounce....
Weigh in day... still even.
I'm going to go to low/high days. 1400 calories one day then up to 1800 the next then back down to 1400. That should help jump start my metabolism. I think my body is still in hording mode.
Weigh in...
start weight-180 ugh
current wieght-172 getting there
goal-145
first week -8lbs!!!!
today the run got longer after i figured out i was only running 1.6 miles. i think i got it up to an actual 2 but i will have to get the car out there and measure. i thank all of you for the support and finally having someone to be accountable too-I am gonna make it to 145!!! (not in the 6 week challenge for sure but eventually)
i am eating well (lots of chicken, salad, and don't forget the cottage cheese). i also eat about 5 times a day (the smaller meals) which is good because we usually don't eat dinner until 8-9pm and then we hit the sack, so eating less at that hour has helped tremendously.
I'm glad you mentioned eating late at night, dragon.
If is an old wives tale that you shouldn't eat anything before you go to bed. In fact it is a good idea to eat a little snack before bedtime. Your body keeps burning calories all through the night and is always looking for a source of energy. If you eat dinner at 5 or 6 and then don't eat again until breakfast you could be going an entire 12 hours or more without any nutrition. Your body looks at this and thinks it is starving and then begins to hold on to fat and get rid of muscle. This is the worst thing that could happen to people trying to lose weight.
Of course, you don't want to eat a 5 course meal or something heavy like red meat and fatty foods, but a light snack before bed will keep your metabolism going through the night and hold you over until breakfast.
I guess that rules out the 10:30 Oreo binge...
Green tea (with or without caffeine) is a metabolism booster and a powerful antioxidant.
Avoid drinks with added sugar. They're full of useless empty calories.
Always read the labels.
All things in moderation George
Interesting story though... I have an uncle on my wifes side who is a BIG guy (tall and wide). Every night he would sit down in front of the tv and eat a row of cookies (not sure if they were oreos). He wanted to lose some weight and all he changed was not eating cookies anymore. He lost 40 pounds.
But if you really want a cookie or two
Snackwell's Cookie Cakes are delicious and only 100 calories for two. Every once in awhile I cut out an extra 50 calories per meal in order to have one or two for dessert after dinner.
For me, cookies are strictly forbidden until July.
Challenge for today:
it's our anniversary so The Lovely Bride and I are eating out tonight at Catch in Winchester.
Happy Anniversary George! Have fun tonight.
