material girl--

Exercise can be addictive.

George--

The tests aren't nearly as bad as the preparation for the tests. There will be advantages to shuffling off this mortal coil.

Will you get the results right away or do you have to wait for Tom, Dick, and Harry to read them first?

I'll be thinking of you over the next couple days. I hope it turns out to be arterial-veneous malformation and nothing more sinister.

J_B--

Thanks for the kind thoughts.

I won't have the results until the Second of May. The film will have to be developed and then scanned. Since I've been battling anemia on and off for six years without any conspicuous lumps appearing, I'm not sitting on the edge of my chair, waiting with fear and trembling. Springtime is much too important to waste dithering.

Good attitude Noddy! Spring is such a pretty time of the year! And strong!
We can feel tentacles of the Canadian spring all the way over here in Australia ... my husband just did his 'spring clean' on his puter and he has the typical 'Spring Fever'! Hopefully we will be back home in Canada for Spring 2006 Smile

The spring temps in Brisbane are much nicer than the summer temps that is for certain! Maybe now I can go for walks along the Brisbane river instead of hitting the treadmill with out having to worry about melting!!

My weight has been steadily creeping up.
It's not lack of exercise -- I've been alternating running days
and weight workout days.
But my eating habits are deteriorating again.
Time to start a food log, I think.

I always do better when I keep a food log, George. Somehow writing everything down keeps me honest. It also lets me see where my problem times are. For example, Mr B doesn't get home from work until almost 7:00 so we eat dinner late. If I don't have a substantial snack around 4:30 I can't make it til 7:00 without falling face first into a bag of chips or crackers. Here's my 'on the plan' plan of 1300 cals/day:

6:00 - 16 oz water, coffee
8:00 - early am snack: 100 cals
10:00 - 16 oz water
11:00 - late am snack: 200 cals
12:00 - 16 oz water
1:00 - early pm snack: 150 cals
2:00 - 16 oz water or green tea
3:30 - lunch: 250 cals
4:00 - 16 oz water
5:30 - late pm snack: 100 cals
7:00 - dinner: 500 cals

I'm at 175 today, down another 1.5. I had a good day 'on the plan' yesterday but I'm taking the girls out to dinner tonight so I'll try to just maintain today. Mr B and I are going to the club for a workout and I'll keep on track the rest of the day until dinner, then I'll try to stay sane.

Ooh, Ive been keeping a food diary for about 3 weeks now.No idea why as it doesnt really stop me from eating badly. But if I eat well I was advised to award myself a few ppounds(in money, not weight, hoho)as a treat.I had £13 to spend last week on anything i liked!!

I have also started to make myself salad sandwichs for lunch, mixed green leaves, tomato and cucumber. They are fun to make and dont tatse half bad!!

OK, I'm on it.
Starting my log.

Each page has three sections

Weight as of that AM
Food eaten that day
Exercise taken that day

Nice job, MG.

I just had a great workout. Bicep curls with a 27 lb body bar, tricep lifts with a 20 lb dumb bell, 3.2 miles on the treadmill with 50% speed intervals. Not bad for not stepping inside a gym in three weeks.

I have been thinking of doing the same thing George. When I go to bed at night, the last thing I think of is, "Ok, what did I eat today and why?" but I reckon I need to actually write it down.

Impressive J_B. I struggle to get to the end of my 5 kms treadmill sessions and I go to the gym just about every day! It is getting boring but I am afraid to take it outdoors just yet....soon.

MG...What did you get? What did you get?? If I had extra money to spend, I would buy....something from Mountain Design Smile btw, I love salad sandwiches Smile

George, I post all my info (except a food diary) in my icalendar so I am sure to see my progress daily. Or long absences from the gym. (haven't had any long absences lately Smile )

Well done George.Join the food diary gang.Good idea with the seperate sections.

Ay-Im into making greetings cards at the moment so I went to a new craft shop and bought plain cards and embellishments(made a pearlescent pink charmed card for a pal who is about to have an ickle baby girl), some mettalic thread, I spent a bit (alot) over my £13, I was restraining my buying urge as well!!I want one of those heat tools an all the embossing stuff and rubber stamps etc which could go into the £100's.
Could have been worse, could have bought clothes that I never wear, which i do quite a bit.

Oh, the scales turned up at the gym last night, different ones tho.I weighed myself and it looks like I lost 1lb!!At least its heading in the right direction.

Me and my boss are trying to be healthy/excercise so we are measuring ourselves each week.I took the measurements a few minutes ago and we have each lost an inch in relevant areas. Bits we measure are things like chest, waist, gut, hips.My hips will never change(sob sob) but my waist went from 33" to 32", my boss's gut went from 39" to 38"!!!He is getting married in July.

Sounds like a cool gift to yourself MG Smile I make my own cards to but next to yours I reckon mine would look like a first graders Wink
Congratulations on your weight loss! And inch loss Smile That is a good idea too! I don't know what happened to my tape measure...one of those lil things that sorta got lost in the move...

One good thing about the log: I found it easier to resist snacking last
night because I didn't want to put it down in my log.

Exactly, George.

I'm down another full pound today even though I took the girls out for dinner. We ended up at a pizza place but I ordered a grilled chicken salad with the dressing on the side. I ate K's last two ravioli in marina sauce and picked at M's chicken (don't ask why no one gets pizza at the pizza place, I don't have the faintest clue). I figure the entire dinner was about 600 cals so I'm quite proud of myself. I've lost 3 lbs so far this week and I'm 1.5 lbs ahead of schedule to get to 168 by the 27th.

The tax man cometh so I don't have much time to exercise today. I'll do my thigh and hamstring exercises and try to get a short walk in later.
