Wink on ice, some gin, and some straight grapefruit juice.

You'll feel all better very soon.

Doctors appt was LONG and boring. >sigh<

nothing was found. No signs of any infection again.. though the suggestion of lyme disease was brought up....??? But, since I have no other symptoms, that is a shot in the dark.
Basically I walked out of there the same way I walked in.... "If it gets worse, CALL US!"

ooh, look, osso said that.

Grump.

Which brings up q-tips. They have gotten lamer and lamer, bending if you even aim them at your ear.

Well, shewolf, I hope your ear drains and you lose dizzyness before any of this discussion is resolved... it might be a while.

Maddening. Did they do anything about the build-up of wax?

Bear had a slight hearing loss and pain in his ear that eventually shot through his head and neck. Went to the Doc and the Doc pulled out a build up of earwax. Pain was gone, hearing returned immediately.

Why didn't they clean it out for you????

Why would they leave that up to you, knowing how dangerous it can be to go digging around in ones ear?

No drops or something to help break it up?

You shoulda paid in pennies.

the good thing is that I didnt have to pay, the bad thing is,

I want a refund.Confused

yeah , blood draw and a strange " ear culture" a long thin itchy NERVE racking swab. Sometimes a good rubbing with a regular swab can .. well.. feel pretty good,.
this swab felt like it reached my rear exit place!
I was coughing and coughing.
My ear is still full, and I still get dizzy, but nowhere near as bad as it was the on the first day.
I have had to wash my pillow twice since this started so I guess that is a good sign. I use a little bit of cotton and I "tape" it to my lower ear lobe so I dont get wax on my clothes. ( yeah.. it is THAT bad )
Maybe that is why noone is doing anything about it. It does seem to be draining on its own... but in the meantime , my head hurts, my stomach is up set and my throat itches all day.
Again.. if it doesnt seem to get better, I will employ yet another doctor. >sigh<

Draining? I just get more and more confused. If it's draining without a middle ear infection, it's an outer ear infection and should be treated. (Wax, just wax, does NOT do that.) If it's draining because you have a rupture in your eardrum and the pus and wax are coming out, that's a middle ear infection and should be treated.

Get doc #3 already.

(Just saw the Saturday post, maybe it's better by now?)

(OK, maybe wax does that, I don't actually know. I did a bit of online research and it seemed to say "discharge" for earwax and only "draining" for swimmer's ear and such, but I dunno.)

What does the discharge smell like? Ear wax or infection?

I once made a mother take her daughter to the doctor because the little one had serious ear-gunk. It was very orange and just about oozing out of her ears. It was not an infection. The child just produces lots and lots of earwax sometimes. This wax flaked out of the ear and did stick to pillowcases, but it did NOT drip.
