@edgarblythe,
Dodge is a car made by Chrysler, which is run by Fiat. I would give this a little more thought.

@roger,
I've always considered all of those crap. Just hadn't been close to any in many years and wanted others' opinions if they were any better. Thanks.

When I was a kid I used to bring a sack lunch to school. Every day I had two slices of bread with a thin slice of baloney between and two sugar cookies. School officials apparently noticed because the food service hired me to work in the cafeteria. It was my job to receive the trays as students turned them in and to rake off the food left on them. This was in California. Later on, after we moved to Texas, in Dec. of 1956, I was hired again by food service. This time I ran the dishwashing machine. Instead of just giving my meals they also gave me cash money.

I think these days of schools that don't feed for free and sympathize with the poorest kids. In the wealthiest country in history, it shouldn't be like that.

A picture of Punky, posted 12 years ago on Facebook, popped up today. Brought home how much I still miss her.

I was totally taken by surprise to read that a lawsuit has been filed against Bob Dylan, alleging sexual misconduct with a twelve year old in 1965. Some are saying he was out of the country during the time frame in question, but her lawyer says he can prove she was in Dylan's hotel room. I've been Dylan's greatest fan since 1964 or 5. Never saw a whisper of this kind of scandal against him. Well, the truth will come out as the law takes its course.

@edgarblythe,
What I want to know is how far can one go back? I mean, my mother is 84, born in 1937... what if she says an incident took place in 1949 and the perpetrator is still alive? Isn't there a statute somewhere? I know there isn't on Nazi war criminals, but is this true of everything? And how would you be able to prove it s so many years later?

And if it was a sexual assault, go for it, but if it was a sexual harassment charge of 36, 46, 56 years ago...?

I mean, I was sexually harassed dozens of times during my life. I was a waitress, a secretary, an administrator, a manager, a camp cook..., even just going to a bar with girlfriends or walking down the street - there were dozens of occasions of harassment ... I could call out lots of people... but why do it? That was yesterday.

@Mame,
They had changed the law to allow it. She filed on the last day before the new time period lapsed.

@edgarblythe,
She said Dylan gained her confidence - groomed her - had her in his hotel room and - she didn't seem that explicit what he did, but drugs were also mentioned.

When and why did they (and who's "they") do that?

@Mame,
The state of New York amended the law. I read about it but I don't recall which website tells that specific information.

I used to be on the road quite a bit. After hitchhiking began to seem too dangerous and riding freights too limited in places I could go, I finally took to riding the bus. The time I hitchhiked across Utah and later Nebraska was the first time to use the bus. Drivers told me the cops in Nebraska would be really hard on me. So I took a bus across the state. I felt my luck on the road was running out. On one of the last long trips I had a man ask me to drive because he was tired. Once we were barreling down the highway he pulled a knife and told me we were going to spend some time in a motel. Stalling him off, I agreed to the motel. What the man didn't know, I was incredibly strong at the time from carrying heavy loads all day. Once we parked in front of the motel and we got out of the car he had to put his knife away. I didn't hurt him but gave him a demonstration of what could happen to his body if we got alone again. Then I walked out to the road and put out my thumb.

Moving my activities to the east coast just made buses the better option. I loved living in Brooklyn and taking random trains to see where it would get me. Alternately, I would start out walking and go up and down Manhattan and a few times in Brooklyn from where I lived, almost in view of the Statue of Liberty, walking to Flatbush and the like.

Brother Sam and I finally settled in Kansas City. I worked in warehouses and then a chemical plant. He drove a delivery car. My footloose days ended when my big brother died and I went home to Texas.

@Mame,
There were conflicting stories. Either from jealousy or to shut up his ex-wife, a man ran them over, killing both. My aunt told me the woman had been planning to file charges on him for child molestation the next day. I don't know for sure what is true. The man beat any charges because the DA felt a jury would side with him over an unfaithful wife. This despite the fact he had moved in with another woman. He later died of a heart attack while mowing grass.

Last time I saw him alive I joked with him that at 29 he was just too old, being he was soon to be thirty.

@Mame,
It wore my mother down until she had no more resistance to fight. She is listed as having died of pneumonia at age 56, but grief was the real cause.

@edgarblythe,
I can imagine it was the real cause, especially if justice wasn't meted out. Was it just the two of you boys or did you have other siblings?
