@livinglava,
I think she's trying to tell the America people that Trump has been acting just like the clownish Bertie Wooster, a fictional character created by British writer Wodehouse. Yet unlike the good-natured Bertie Wooster who has a brainy manservant named Jeeves going to bat for him when he is in a tight spot, Trump doesn't have a go-to expert like Jeeves. Peter Navarro, who is a cat's paw of the cantankerous Trump, only knows how to cast aspersions on liberals and China; Mike Pence, another marionette, only wants to schmear Trump up by acting like his gaffer.

It behoves to America to find a real president who respects savants instead of a Pharisee who makes light of boffins. I wouldn't be surprised to find Trump declaring that his saliva can cure coronavirus: all you have to do is kiss him.

Either way, Mark Twain and Boccaccio would have been amused.

Only partially. What her sign is saying is that Hollywood movies often begin with a scientist being ignored, which is then followed by a plot that depicts the consequences of ignoring the scientist(s).

Such movies propagate the technocratic idea that people should submit to and obey what scientists say.

Rule by scientists and experts is called 'technocracy,' so her sign is actually exposing Hollywood technocratic propaganda for what it is.

It's ironic, because she is probably just trying to promote technocracy herself by holding up the sign.

Or maybe she's just suggesting people listen to scientists in order to be more informed, but not implying obedience to them or subjecting governmental leaders to accountability for heeding scientific authority.

@livinglava,
That much rumination into a simple, clear, to the point and funny comment.

Reading the Sunday comics to your grand kids must be a painful thing to watch: "Please grandpa, don't interpret them!"

Did you take watches apart as a child to find out where the time was kept?

Cultural analysis is important.

You may prefer the unexamined life, but don't think your ethic is superior because it's not; it's just lazy.

Au contraire. An unexamined life is sad, an over examined one is low hanging fruit for mirth making. Thank you for all the mirth fodder. Do I really strike you as an uncontemplating person? Only demonstrates the unobserving nature to your own navel contemplation. Add to that an inability to give and take in gentle gibing. May it be time remove the stick from up your ass and loosen up?

The happy medium is to lead by utilizing sage advice (not try to compete with it because as several o us demonstrate , nobody;s good at everything) Somw deny that they are ignorant of anything. specially our president. He is a "Stable Genius" and claims he has a 160 IQ .
Im beginning to wonder about Stanford Binet (IQ testing at hi childhood and HS lvel.

You criticized my cultural analysis and so I responded to your implication that 'unexamined' is worse than 'examined.'

Now your response is to get defensive that I am criticizing you at the level of your overall person.

I don't know you. I respond to posts, not people. If you favor 'examined' over 'unexamined,' then don't ridicule me for examining a political sign in depth.

That would be the Democrats. The party of MS13 and illegal immigration. The party that wants to abolish ICE and release dangerous criminals and shelter them in sanctuary cities. The party that held out for money for pork projects and mail in voting knowing it is ripe with fraud while businesses went belly up in this MSM fed panic. The party that sides with China and Iran and has done 0 for the citizens since losing in 2016.

You put too much trust in 'scientists.' Scientists are people and people are not perfect, harbor hidden motives, are manipulable and bribeable, and many are generally prone to abusing any power or authority they can get because of an inability to control self-interest and pay attention to the bigger picture rather than getting lost in the details.

Direct theocracy is the ideal form of government, but somehow people all have to be directly accountable to higher authority beyond human biases and self/collective interests.

And you don't believe that there is any higher authority beyond humans anyway, right?

For someone who claims to not know you certainly feel no compunction about speculating on me in a nasty way.

Don't you feel the least bit hypocritical about that? It speaks volumes about the quality of your own introspection, bubba.

You and the MSM say the same things about Trump and his supporters daily. Which makes your response hypocritical blather.
