Dream come true!

I’m babysitting a Siberian Husky tonight and we just had our first walk.

A bit like a Nantucket sleigh ride going out, but she was much calmer the second half of the walk.

She’s not strong enough to pull me off my feet

Another walk when it gets a bit cooler.

She was wooh woohing sadly before walk, but is resting happily before her dinner now.

And I’m earning baby sitting money like a teenager!

@Borat Sister,
The huskies are very vocal. They love to sass you and argue but they are beautiful beasts. Have fun with the doggie.

@Linkat,
If you actually followed the science, there was never any chance of controlling this virus without shutting down everything, including 'essential services'. The idiots in gov. knew that wasn’t an option so they gave us placebos to keep us stupid masses from panicking.

What worries me the most is they might have been right.

@Leadfoot,
If you actually followed the science you’d realise that the measures used were to stop hospitals being overwhelmed, and in most cases they worked.

@izzythepush,
Depends on how deeply you look into the science. What they (and you) said is true. It’s the facts that they didn’t publicly give us that piss me off.

@Leadfoot,
It’s not facts that are the problem, it’s the lies and disinformation from anti mask nut jobs.

Yes.
Shock and horror that we are so stupid.

It’s like we can’t keep poking at it with a stick, then get upset when we get bit

Well that is the whole thing - they do not credit us with intelligence. Are we so stupid to thing doing a half a$$ed job is going to solve anything? There was actually an article written about this basically saying this sort of policy that causes the general public to lose trust in the government -- do ya think?!

To me it seems that the governor is afraid to piss anyone off - so he tries to compromise by allowing the businesses to stay (to appease the businesses) but make them close early (to appease those that are worried of increased infection rates). So instead he screws over both.

Amen. But ironically, you can’t point this out without being accused of being an anti-mask nut-job.

@izzythepush,
I know this is not directed at me - but it is not that I am anti-mask - I am anti-stupid. I can safely go for a walk in the woods with no one around and not wear a mask - I do not need the governor to tell I have to wear a mask because these woods are public land. Common sense tells me I carry one with me and if I do come upon someone I put it on for the 30 seconds I pass them.

It is just plain dumb to be walking for two miles with a mask on when no one is around. I should be able to breath freely - it is not impacting anyone.

If I am in a restaurant after 10pm vs at 9pm with all the same guidelines in place - am I more likely to get covid? What is the difference. If I decide I want a glass of wine at 10 pm rather than at 6 pm am I more likely to get covid? If I decide I want to take a drive for no reason than to get out of the house for a bit and it is midnight - am I causing an increase in the covid rates? Are any of these behaviors causing potential harm to others?

I agree. How about those stores following the Walmart lead and making aisles marked for one way traffic? So we all go one way, and everybody bunches up in certain areas, anyway. Well, it shows that those stores really care.

@roger,
Well then don't bunch up if you see someone ahead of you. Honestly? That is making a problem where there is none. If you see people standing ahead of you, you stop well before them. If someone comes up behind you, ask them to back away.

Jesus. People act like they are spending full weeks walking around a walmart or other store, or that every instant is fraught with people dodging bobbing and weaving all around you. There is absolutely no instance in my life where I can't make simple, mostly unconscious decisions to keep a safe distance in any environment. Is it some kind of necessity to go sit in a restaurant with others? Anne Frank lived in an attic needing to keep silent for over 2 years. We can't not go out for Chinese or Italian, or just bring it home.

I got plenty of things to entertain me in my house. We all do. Just suck it up.

As far as wearing a mask in the woods or something, is that required where you live linkat? Is it required if you are driving in your closed car alone?

I don't know if your state has those requirements. Or were you being facitious?

Yes it is required to wear a mask in any public areas which would include things like local and state parks ..like trails in the woods that are not private. I walk almost daily in trails through the woods that starting today if I do not wear a mask I can be fined.

In a closed car alone no., but if you are in a car with anyone that is not in your immediate family then yes.

These are the the things that are bothersome ... the rules that do not make sense. So why is it OK to eat at a restaurant at 2pm but suddenly at 9:35 pm it is dangerous?

Why is it I cannot go for my walk in the woods and do not pass anyone I need to wear a mask..to protect the deer?

In other words, exactly if they used two way traffic. As I said, it's totally pointless - except for showing that your store is on the ball and cares about you.

@Linkat,
At least it's not hot out. You know how you would get that mask rash in the middle of August?

Hey, in awhile it will be so cold there you'll want your mask for warmth.

As far as rules, you know what? I'm just going to be that person that says suck it up, keep your mask on if you're outside the home, if you see a bunch of people stay away, order take out and stay at home.

It is SO just not that hard to do.

Frankly, I would not sit in any kind of restaurant and eat there. Just isn't a big deal, especially when you consider the alternative. I mean seriously, if I had to ask myself "do I want/need to sit in a restaurant and potentially get at least very sick, maybe die, or do I want to pick up the food, and eat it at home?" I would wonder why I even had to ask myself that.

If I wanted to walk in the woods, and a mask was required or I'd get fined. I'd wear a mask.

Order online, curb service, go home. Zoom, Facetime, text your friends.

Why do so many people insist on making out that this is some sort of horrific ordeal?
Stop scrutinizing every situation and just wear a mask, stay away from people, wash your hands and stay home.

You won't be confused if you do that in all situations, and you greatly reduce your risk of getting ill and/or dying.

Isn't that what this is all about?
