Here's a room with the Amber Brew. And some gray color on the stairs.

I think the lighter shades.

@chai2,
I love the look of the darker shade, but it will eat light. I’d go for the paler one for that reason.

Oh this isn't my house, it's from Pinterest I think.

Just to show the color of Amber Brew.

During the day I'd have them opened. Actually, I'm thinking I should go with top down shades, as you'd be able to have more privacy, but as much openess as you want.

That's what I have in my bedroom in Mexico. I leave the entire top open all the time, since the bedroom is on the 2nd floor. At night I also raise the bottom to get the breezes.

I like to lie in bed and look at the stars, and the clouds blowing across the stars, and the moon.

I keep saying I'm going to drive a few miles out when it's a new moon. I want to see the Milky Way and it would be really dark out in the campo (countryside). But every time I'm there it's before and after the full moon.

I also keep saying I should sleep up on the roof. But it gets pretty cold at night.
They love their fireworks there. Sometimes I'll go up there and watch. Funny thing, there's never any ooooohhhs and ahhhhhs.
It's a very serious business I suppose.

Or is this color shade better?

It should be closest in tone to the opposite of the majority of the furnishings.

Darker blinds with lighter time furniture, lighter blinds with darker furniture. That's just me, you may have differing idea of that (besides,I am not an expert on decorating)

Meanwhile as Chai gets her fabulous new home beautifully adorned, comedy takes place in NYC.

Wait, did I say comedy? More like chaos. Especially for anybody in any way connected to the Board of Education.

The schools are slowly being phased back into session. A few weeks later than usual and later than originally anticipated. By October 1 all should be operating again. Or maybe not....

A few schools have already found teachers and staff being diagnosed as having Coronavirus.

It gets worse...or better depending on your take.

There is no such thing as all in class instructions this season. A choice of all online or a mix of online and a few days weekly in person. That is the latest fiasco.

If the student is entirety online, there will be live instructions/lessons/test times. If a student and their parent/s or guardian/s opted for blended learning, they might only have a video recording of an instructor. SO, nobody to help if they have a question.

Supposedly the city is hiring 2000 additional instructors. Still! They have been playing games since March when it first became known that the new year would begin in the online world.

Not to worry, just a few weeks ago (late August) they started to make sure schools and classrooms had proper air flow and ventilation. They used the tried and true method of a piece of toilet tissue attached to a stick to find out if there was air flow.

Turns out some windows are still shut....some due to paint, others were nailed down.

But it gets even more horrifying!

We learned today, yet another education department official announced they are exiting. We are now up to 4 or 5 of the persons in the school reopening hierarchy having exited.

But it's okay, the mayor said last week that he and his entire staff would be taking a one week, unpaid furlough in the next several months. (the mayor might vanish for a year, we likely wouldn't notice).

On the truly brighter side, the heat of summer seems to have left.

@Sturgis,
That's dark comedy at best, Sturgis.

My grandson started first grade this week. His town has a "hybrid" system
whereby half the class in on site and the other half remote for four days
and every one is remote on one day. The on-sites and remotes switch after
two days.

There's pretty good compliance with the protocols around here, so I'm
hopeful all will go well. But we'll see.

My daughter in high school has been going to school - all in classroom since the beginning of September .... the school is PK - 12 grade. They have not had any COVID issues or issues with the students not wearing the masks as they should.

They also have soccer and volleyball middle school, jv and varsity practicing with games starting end of next week.

The kids just seems to be enjoying as normal of a school year as is at all possible.

@Sturgis,
Sorry issues abound. Nothing too serious - just emotional and yes we had a covid incident.

The daughter that is the rule follower and does everything you are supposed to do of course was the one to get it. Her college has been very good about maintaining rules and isolated - just was one roommate being close to someone else that did not know she had it at the time.

Basically nothing to do but isolate the town home for 2 weeks. And have food delivered. 4 of the 6 got it with varying degrees. All are better now - and bonus with my daughter being on the basketball team they made her get her heart checked out - all is fine. She is just now after a month beginning to get her taste back a little - she is the only that got that symptom. But now with her college being so on top of everything - there are only 3 cases.

Now the resilient girl is depressed after going through all this is now feeling a bit depressed - she says she feels very sad and alone at times (even with her full house of I would say very nice girls). I typically am talking with her daily now and had been while the housemates were all quarantined. It was tough on them all.

And my other daughter has been going through quite a bit emotional as well. Although being back at school with the structure has actually helped and playing soccer and fall basketball is helping a bit.

Am trying with the younger daughter by seeing a doctor that specializes in functional medicine to see if we can find more natural ways to deal with her anxiety and panic attacks so all of this has been keeping me busy and a bit down myself.

The mental side of all this covid has taken the biggest toll on the family. I am just tired.

@Linkat,
Oh gosh.
I'm glad things are moving forward again and the fact that your older daughter got a good bill of health on the heart. Now to get the taste back entirely.

The whole Covid-19 situation is exhaustive. I'm alone and getting weary, cannot begin to fathom how much tougher it is for you and yours with the added concern of the young ones and the added stress they must be dealing with.

Thoughts are with you. Stay safe and stay strong
