I’ve spent all morning at car boots, just got back. Stopped off at Lilley’s cider farm and got a **** ton.

@izzythepush,
love hard cider. BUT I dont like em with a lot of cloudy res. It gives the cider a punky taste. I still like the multi flitered ones that are made en masse.

Ill have a hrd cider and a dish a ice cream. or hard cider and anchovies on crackers with horse radish.

OK, whats a car boot?? A car wash automat?

According to scientists, a double infection with two Covid 19 variants has been detected in a person in Belgium for the first time. A 90-year-old woman who fell ill and died in March was infected with the Alpha and Beta virus variants. This was announced by the organisers of the European Congress on Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases (ECCMID).

"This is one of the first documented cases of co-infection with two alarming variants of SARS-CoV-2," explains molecular biologist Anne Vankeerberghen of OLV Hospital in Aalst and author of the study.

That lady wasn't vaccinated.

@Walter Hinteler,
the actual amount of genetic variability that resides in any genome is huuuuge. Im actually amazed that evolution doesnt occur even quicker.

Theres a new work that;s supposedly coming out that uses the covid 19 variability nd selection into the population to explain some of the math heretofore used by scientists.
Covid has been a world shaker for evolution theory and natural selection specifically.
Genetic variability, while always known, has been pretty much proven by mRNA o Covid to be an expressible location from every base on very string of every gene on every chromosome.

Something like a flea market, but people sell out of the trunks (boots) of their cars.

@farmerman,
Hard cider?

It’s all alcoholic, otherwise it’s not cider.

I got 3 litres mango, rhubarb, Perry, and cider Perry mix, and 5 litres of scrumpy.

It’s the proper stuff, from Somerset, home of cider.

Car boot is short for car boot sale. It’s where members of the public sell their unwanted goods, usually enough to fill a car boot which is where the name came from.

It’s not limited to cars now, lots of vans and lorries and a few dealers.

My son is a real James Bond fan, and I got a signed framed photo with a certificate of authentication of George Lazenby in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Did you purposely ignore all the "challenges" to his world? wow. That how most conspiracy theories root. One only selects one source of information to ground ones beliefs.

Discover Magazine, a few issues past did an issue on misinformation, disinformation, fake information, and conspiracy "theories" and a lot of it has to do with ignoring evidence and facts.

HE worshipped som clown named Vendramini who beliieved that Neanderthals were really "killer apes" specially created as "pre flood" hominids,
He posted crap 40 and 50 years old thats been fully revised by repeatable lab and field data . He NEVER undertood radionuclide dating although I tried towalk him through what even the Evangelical christian nuke chemists had to say.
When he wanted to ignore something he did it like you do, you just deny that it was ever challeged and that noone was abl to find any error.

When you say that we cant fin any error, it just means you dont understand the subject in its entirety

@farmerman,
This thread is unique in that it’s the only one where Oralloy has taken a different stance to other far right extremists.

Usually he will turn a blind eye to opinions he disagrees with if the person is another far right extremist.

He refused to condemn Carlos Le Baron’s Holocaust Denial even after it had been pointed out to him, and he’s extremely forgiving of Builder’s anti Semitism.

That’s what he did with Gungasnake, ignore his nonsense about killer ape Neanderthals and agree with his nonsense about school shootings and freedom.

actually, when I respond to that individual, I always look for stuff not of a poli nature because I agree with you, whats the sense to respond when you know going in hes gonna ignore facts that disagree with his worldview.

As far as ciders , we have a hug market in the fall for sweet(Unfermented cider) We use thes for summer drink, as mixers, and in cooking saucs. our Saur Krauts are sweetened with a Rambo or Stayman sweet cier.

Along the back roads, many AMish stores will have a cider barrel ,in a chiller and they sell 16 oz glasses of somw of the most refreshing sweet ciders .(Theyll add frsh lemon if we need more tang.
HARD Cider (as to distinguish it from th above) varis in aV from 2.5 to 20% alcohol .Anything above 7%, is, to me, a wine tasting thing with fizz. Its almost like Brut Freixenet (Spanish Champignoise stuff)

Ill drink a hard cider with a dish of ic cream or salty fish with crackwrs an onion.

Seet Cider has a fridge life of about a week and thei=n it turns vingary not cidery. All the yeasts that live wild impart weird flvors tht cn make a sweet cider taste like a gym locker.
Over here we have litsa craft breweries but most of thm (Idsay ALL of them, dont know **** about good cider)
I do not like my hard cider with a musty fungal aroma . (even though these guys market it as a "Probiotics")
Something like WOODCHUCK or even REDDs are dome in a yest free industrial space so the ciders are clean tasting and clear as amber water.

Im not looking to get into another "BACON" hing with you, Im just saying "its what I like to drink or use and call it a cider"
The American revolution was pretty much lubricated on cider . not beer, so we probably used your recipes for a hundred years or more (until the joys of sweet cider allowed the fairer sex to enjoy these libations)

There was a cider drink that was a mixof Rambo/Cortland sweet cider mixed with a about 25% hard cier (just for the ladied)
But I gotta say, Duroc Hog Pork chops , thick cut and served up with a sweet cider , onion, tarragon Gravy is a joy for a summer supper out doors.
Course , for that dinner we drink southern style sweet lemonade ice tea .

@farmerman,
Unfermented cider is apple juice.

I cannot see the difference.

We have sweet ciders over here too, but they’re still alcoholic.

We’ve been brewing cider since the Romans introduced apples.

Women drink it as much as men.

@farmerman,
Dude!! Who told you that this experimental injection confers immunity?

If no one did, why are you talking about it as if it does?

Oh hey, did you ever figure out whether or not the the animals in the safety studies died because of a thing called ADE? Not even curious, are you?

And did you ever figure out why on earth dying patients on hospice were given this experimental injection. I mean, when are you going to start questioning the lies? When the liars tell you that it's okay to use your brain? That ain't gonna happen.

@izzythepush,
its how thyere made thats the diff. Sweet ciders arent pasteurized they are puklped and chilled. Apple Juice isa cooked pile a schleck. Its sugar in a can or bottle.

every batcha sweet cider will be different. Of course we have sec and brut hard ciders, we just need to distinguish whats licensed as an alky beverage and whats not.

D othe Brits ferment the cider before or after filtering once??
We have a license provision for that kind of hard cider.

We can Freeze chill hard cider and get a Fortified thing too licenese provision in several NE states for that, (Thats garbage, like MAd Dog)
Most all of it is marketing , not flavor enhancement.
EG, all overUS , fruit is picked and sold by WEIGHT only. SO, anybody who lives in Michigan or NY and buys
strawberries from California oughta have their taste buds examined. Strawberries dont ripen any further after thyeve been picked because the ripening involves root derived dusgars besides light.

If you buy Calif strawberries in the summer, you may as well et the box.
When I was working in Ireland it was even worse, they served strawberries that had a white skin , sour as lemons, unripe crap.

I probably didn’t read the Neanderthal thread. I only read topics that I am interested in.

Freedom is not nonsense.

@farmerman,
ALSO, Apple juice can be sold as apple juice and it isnt all juice. They can add water and grape juice nd nything to "enhance"
Apple Cider, besides being pupled and unpateurized must be all apple juice from a batch

@farmerman,
When I made my own cider I pressed the apples, extracted the juice and filled a keg with it. Then I added the yeast. What wasn’t put in the keg was drunk as apple juice.

It’s that simple, no filtration nothing.

That’s just me, I don’t know about commercial operations.

I had an apple tree at the old house which was the main provider but I also added some other varieties of apple, some pears and some crab apples.

@farmerman,
The closest thing we have to soft cider over here are cider flavoured ice lollies that some ice cream vans sell.

They’re called cydrax or something like that.

Over here apple juice is just that, if other juices are added it’s a blend and needs to be labelled accordingly, either as a blended juice drink or as an apple “drink,” not juice.

Normally apples are mixed with pears.
