Squinney, tell Bear that A2K doesn't allow it's members to have pneumonia. It's a violation of the TOS.

Husker is right. Bear needs to suck on that damn thing until his toes turn magenta.

Chest Therapy

Chest therapy using incentive spirometry, rhythmic inhalation and coughing, and chest tapping are all important techniques to loosen the mucus and move it up out of the lungs. It should be used both in the hospital and when the patient returns home during recovery.

Incentive Spirometry. The patient uses an incentive spirometer at regular intervals.

The spirometer is a hand-held clear plastic device that includes a breathing tube and a container with a movable gauge.

The patient first exhales through the tube.

Then the patient inhales as strongly as possible.

The force of the inhalation raises a gauge inside the device to the highest level possible.

This practice helps the patient exercise the lungs. The height of the gauge at inhalation also helps the health professional to determine the state of the patient's lung function.

Rhythmic Breathing and Coughing. During recovery, the patient performs rhythmic breathing and coughing every four hours:

Before starting the breathing exercise, the patient should tap lightly on the chest to loosen mucus within the lung. If available, a caregiver should also tap on the patient's back.

The patient inhales rhythmically and deeply three or four times.

The patient then coughs as deeply as possible with the goal of producing sputum.

Something tells me that Squinney and Bear could practice their own style of Rhythmic Breathing and do just as well!

(Maybe against protocol, but when has that ever stopped BPB?!)

Pneumonia.

Sheesh.

Tell him he's already getting all the sympathy we can muster. There's no need to invent new maladies. Wink

Must be? Does that mean YOU don't have a sundress on? Evil or Very Mad

Only in my closet, Beth. Smile

EDIT: Oh, I see we've received permission to remove them. I think I'll still wear it in the closet.

Squinney, I just read your last post. What a big disappointment for you all! Just when things were starting to look like they were getting better. Sad You must be exhausted, having just moved house & now coping with so much worry as well. Here's hoping the Bear's condition is improving as I type. My thoughts are with you all.

I've sent Bear's name into the Prayer Power Hour request line. Please let him know. Broadcast begins precisely at 8:00 AM (that's Heaven Standard Time) and apparently there is only a short delay of two or three minutes for the prayers to get up there, then another equal delay on the returning trans-blessing.

Since, I bet, it didn't arrive when blatham used his name as sender, I've done such as well - remember: the Pope is MY con-patriot!

Just checking in before I head back to the hospital.

He is getting breathing treatments from resp. therapy. Nebulizer kind, not the other since deep breaths aren't possible yet due to incision. I'm surprised anything could flair up given all the antibiotics. He's on a wide spectrum, so it should be catching anything and everything.

Will find out more from the Doc when he makes rounds this morning.

Still hoping to get that catheter out today. Cat said the nurses aid came in just before she left at 10 last night and mentioned the catheter. Was getting ready to tell him it might hurt a little... Then she saw the wide eyed look on Cat's face and that she was shaking her head and moving her hand across her neck like "No, no. Cut that info!"

Cat is 37, so it's been extremely helpful for her to be here.

Gotta go take the phone away from Bear. He's been calling people since he got on the floor. Some were work related even though I had told him I had already called his gigs. He thinks he's making sense, which he does for short periods of time. But, then he'll ramble or drift off or say something that makes no sense at all.

Will check in later.

Love,

Naked Squinney

Sorry, you guys posted while I was typing and refilling my coffee.

Thanks for the special prayers.

But, I don't think you're supposed to fight over who is better friends with Jesus or who the Pope loves more or who gets to sit by God at supper. I know that seems obvious, but a lot of folks around our part of the world seem to be confused by that lately. (You may not have noticed this since our current president is a "Uniter.")

BTW, I mentioned to Bear that Bush had run into a policeman and fell off his bike at the G8. That got the biggest grin in the last 10 days. I think the bobblehead Bush Gus sent will be a big help in keeping Bear entertained. I'm hiding the Anna Nicole one until the Catheter comes out.

(Oops, I'm sorry parados, I didn't mean to mention catheter again.) Razz

I promise: we won't tell Bear that you talked to us naked. (There weren't more than 13 registered & 7 hidden members online plus 47 guests, though.)

I can't take any more of wandel talking about inserting and removing catheters.

Sorry about that. For you it might not be a "big thing". Smile

Checking in to see how the Bear Clan is faring. This new twist on his condition is hard to hear about. Pneumonia hurts. It may hurt even more than a catheter. Hope this gets cleared up quickly.

Thinking happy healing thoughts!

I'm still sending healing thoughts to Bear and special hugs to Squinney and Cubs. I hope Bear continues to improve, even with the occasional setback. Thanks for the updates, Squinney.

I don't think it's mentioning catheters that bothers, it's the discussion of inserting and removing them that does it! Twisted Evil

I hope there's nothing but good news today, squinney. You're all in my thoughts.
