I admit to dancing on the tables at the Oar House after hours but nothing on earth, no money, no fine clothes, no fine car, not even a fine man, could get me to sing karaoke...

Sorry osso,
I was trying to pander to a North Carolina audience on a Sunday night.

Off to the realm of Moby.

Busted flat in Baton Rouge
Waitin' for a train
I's feelin' nearly faded as my jeans
Bobbie thumbed a diesel down
Just before it rained,
It rode us all the way to New Orleans

OK, is this the Janis version or the Kris version you have playing in your head?

God, that brings back memories of when johnboy was a bit of a drifter.
And now he may know how to quote.

The times, they are a changing.

I've thumbed tens of thousands of miles . . .

. . . had a little black and white dog, and she travelled thousands of miles with me in that manner . . .

You had to be young, which alas, i am no longer . . .

There were young girls everywhere
On the summer side of life
They talked all night
To the young men that they knew
On the summer side of life
Going off to fight

And if you saw them now
You'd wonder why they would cry
The whole day long

man oh man, I love Gordon Lightfoot

::buttonholing rjb::

don't YOU love Gordon Lightfoot?

I LOVE Gordon Lightfoot

He came down through fields of green
On the summer side of life
His love was ripe
There were no illusions
On the summer side of life
Only tenderness

And if you saw him now
You'd wonder why he would cry
The whole day long

Janis, Kris, I had both albums..
at this point, I only have Janis'.

Nah, tequila would put me into the bathroom...
perhaps a nice bourbon.

I heard you talking in your sleep
Is there anything that I can do
I don't believe we've had a word all day
'Bout anything at all

Gordon rules!

I think my friend OssoB is about ready to sing.
Bring her up here, boys!

There is only one version of that song that gets to the raw guts of it, and that one was by Janis Joplin. No one ever could do that song better than she did. No one.

Bourbon or champagne, it only takes two to start in with Tom Lehrer.

I ache for the touch of your lips, dear,
But much more for the touch of your whips, dear.
You can raise welts
Like nobody else,
As we dance to the Masochism Tango.

Let our love be a flame, not an ember,
Say it's me that you want to dismember.
Blacken my eye,
Set fire to my tie,
As we dance to the Masochism Tango.

At your command
Before you here I stand,
My heart is in my hand...
Yeech!
It's here that I must be.

My heart entreats,
Just hear those savage beats,
And go put on your cleats
And come and trample me.

Your heart is hard as stone or mahogany,
That's why I'm in such exquisite agony.
My soul is on fire,
It's aflame with desire,
Which is why I perspire when we tango.

You caught my nose
In your left castanet, love,
I can feel the pain yet, love,
Ev'ry time I hear drums.

And I envy the rose
That you held in your teeth, love,
With the thorns underneath, love,
Sticking into your gums.

Your eyes cast a spell that bewitches.
The last time I needed twenty stitches
To sew up the gash
That you made with your lash,
As we danced to the Masochism Tango.

Bash in my brain,
And make me scream with pain,
Then kick me once again,
And say we'll never part.

I know too well
I'm underneath your spell,
So, darling, if you smell
Something burning, it's my heart... [hiccup]
'Scuse me!

Take your cigarette from its holder,
And burn your initials in my shoulder.
Fracture my spine,
And swear that you're mine,
As we dance to the Masochism Tango.

Okay, let's see... Osso, ehbeth and Set. A little something by Three Dog Night, perhaps?

Joy to the World

(Osso)
Jeremiah was a bull frog
Was a good friend of mine
I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him a-drink his wine
And he always had some mighty fine wine

Singin'
{All}
Joy to the world
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

(ehbeth)
If I were the King of the world
Tell you what I'd do
I'd throw away the cars and the bars and the wars
And make sweet love to you

Sing it now
{All}
Joy to the world
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

Setanta)
You know I love the ladies
Love to have my fun
I'm a high night flier and a rainbow rider
And a straight-shooting son of a gun
I said a staight shootin son of a gun

Everybody join in now - Yes, you too, Liontamer.

Joy to the world
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

Whew!!!! Great job Dogs!

I wouldn't mind at all reciting that, in my idiosyncratic way, but sing it? Is there more ice?

I have to go look at my albums. Some of you know I am going through house cleaning out and packing throes, with everything up for being disposed of. And almost everything I have now means something to me.

Included in this are my late bought bang and olufsen turntable (the cheapest one) - purchased the week turntables went out of style, and I dunno, fifty albums, which I keep culling and miss all that I've culled. I have to go look and see if Gordon made the cut last time.

I'm not getting up on that stage except to do some drumming...
