Trump started a war. The question now is how many people have to die for this idiocy.

Iran reportedly launched dozens of ballistic missiles against US troops in two Erbil and Al-Assad airbases. We have yet to hear the casualties.

For the bombastic Trump cheerleaders for war... this is not good for the US or for the Middle East. The extremists in Iran will match the extremists in the Trump administration. There will be civilian casualties. There will be US soldiers deployed. There will be a great economic cost. There will be a loss of American influence and respect.

Iran started the war. Mr. Trump is just defending us from Iran's aggression.

Hard to tell. Maybe a lot. If we bomb Iran, we will surely take out their Uranium Conversion Facility, and there will be clouds of pure death drifting downwind from the site when we do so.

If we bomb the Uranium Conversion Facility when the wind is blowing in the direction of Isfahan, the number of fatalities will be staggering.

Iran is not capable of matching America's firepower. We have large airbases in both Diego Garcia and the UK, and heavy bombers flying out of both bases will be able to pummel Iran from two directions at once.

Oh come on. No there won't.

@oralloy,
Oralloy, you sound like you think the number of civilian casualties is a good thing. Personally, I hope that this can be ended peacefully with a minimal loss of civilian life on both sides.

That is you trying to read more into it than was stated. I read no such thing.

That is how lies are born. They repeat their opinions of what was said until others believe it. Almost every Leftist here does it.

@McGentrix,
I would like to hear either you or Oralloy admit that this war will have a very high cost to the United States and to civilian human life.

@maxdancona,
What war? I wonder if Iraq will see Iran firing missiles into their country as an act of war. Think Iraq will retaliate?

That's a reasonable goal.

Mike Rogers is suggesting that Iran had its missiles miss on purpose to avoid American casualties, and that Trump is going to back down.

Let's hope this is true.

What would Mr. Trump be backing down from?

I do not anticipate any cost to the US at all.

Take a globe and look at the position of Diego Garcia and the UK relative to Iran. Heavy bombers flying out of both airbases will be able to easily pummel Iran from two directions at once.

I think I've already said that it could.

I do not agree that this means it will.

@oralloy,
What exactly do you think pummeling Iran from the air will accomplish?

What do you think Iran will do in response?

It would destroy or degrade the targets of the bombing.

Likely targets include Iran's illegal nuclear sites, Iran's military, and Iran's political leadership.

maxdancona wrote:

Iran is not capable of responding in kind to such an attack. Whatever they would do would be pretty feeble by comparison.

@maxdancona,
during the recent past when there were adult presidents, ALL the foreign diplomacy crews worked diligently to engineer at least some kind of a situational "Backdoor" where either side could deescalate while retaining a "big Face".

This guy seems to have forgotten the laws of diplomacy and engagement Maybe he can get a quick lesson from Henry Kissinger.

What's the problem? Everything seems to be deescalating nicely at the moment.

It's the typical "doom and gloom cause Trump" response.
