@Leadfoot,
You, then, don't understand the primary premise of christianity.

@Leadfoot,

That could be true, but not a universal truth. The bible never recommends being a member of the majority

And what does the Bible recommend we do if we were born into a country where the Bible is not the accepted religious text?

According to the book, there were only two requirement for a 'passing grade' :

1. Love God first. (seems reasonable since according to the book he is completely responsible for your very existence)

2. Love others as you love yourself.

JC said all the requirements were fulfilled in these. Nothing said about reading some specific book.

And yet even that is something you learned from the book.

So, you're saying that as long as I treat my neighbor as I would want to be treated, I'm going to make the grade? And is it okay if I love Allah first?

Actually I didn't learn that from the book. I think those two things are natural conclusions anyone could reach by merely observing their own existence.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. It don't think it matters what name you call God as long as you recognize the reality of owing your existence to him and show the same respect to others as you grant yourself.

It needs me to thank it for my existence? This is another example of the god's insecurity.

Then, what is the primary purpose of christianity, in your opinion?

@neologist,
To convert heathens to christianity, a man-made religion that uses the carrot snd the stick. Have you ever visited the Vatican? With so many poor people starving, why such a grand building? Just the cost of upkeep must be enormous~!

If the reality is that you are just so many pounds of hamburger, that is true.

By engaging in a thread about souls, hell and heaven, you are either ready to ponder the possibility of those things or you're just trolling. Either is fine by me, just pick a side.

@cicerone imposter,
You equate the vatican with christianity? Have you really compared, or are you just going on what others say?

Same question. Only substitute words:

I know the Roman Catholics equate themselves with christianity. But that's not my question.

If catholics are true christians, I'm Nanny McPhee..Smile
Satan has suckered them into praying to Jesus's mum and to human "saints", even though nowhere in the bible does it say do that.
Their prayers are therefore like firing blanks and they might just as well save their breath and whistle dixie..Smile

@Harry Blake,
Actually, HB, they feel comfort and security when they pray. That is a benefit.

@cicerone imposter,
Praying to Jesus's mum didn't do Fredo Corleone much good out in that boat on the lake-
"Holy Mary mother of God..." BAM!.
Incidentally Jesus was not God, he said so himself, so catholics are wrong on that count too..Smile

@Harry Blake,
It really doesn't matter which god an individual prays to. They get the same benefit of comfort and security. They sincerely 'feel it.'

Failure is eternal once done. Why should one rectify a circle into a square ? Circles are circles n squares are squares.
