actually... no. I tried starting a thread last year, too. Seems like sports really isn't that much of an interest to most A2Kers.

Yeah. I wonder how Steve Bartman is these days
Poor Bartman... he really got a bad rap. It wasn't the botched douple play or the complete pitching collapse of their two aces... no it was the poor guy in the stands that did what anybody else would have done if they were sitting in that seat. But that is just like cub fans. They would rather blame it on a curse than actually blame it on the organization.
I've made up my mind. It is too early to get excited.
My prediction is:
They make the playoffs with only a 2 game lead.
They lose in the first round in 5 games.
anything can happen in a month...
... i DON'T wanna talk about it, jp...
Well JP you gotta love todays game. Suicide squeeze...I mean this team is hungry.
It was a good game, panz. McCarthy pitched very well against the Other Sox (The best hitting team in baseball). We manufactured some runs and came away with a nice win.
I did not like seeing people getting picked off on first in certain situations though. I don't remember the inning but the score was 0-0 man on third, and first and only one out. Scotty Pods gets picked off of first, guy at the plate flies out and the man on third is stranded. IMO, getting picked off in that situation is unaccetable. A deep fly would have scored a run but instead he gets picked off and the deep fly ended the inning. That is sloppy baseball, IMO.
But a win is a win so I'll take it.
that, and Tony Graff's dinger were the only brightspots of an otherwise forgettable game...
Tony "Always Comes Through In The Clutch" Graffanino.
I always liked him when he was with the Sox. I thought he didn't get enough playing time when he was in ChiTown. He is a great utility player, always unselfish and a good personality in the clubhouse. Good to see him getting his dues in BeanTown.
they've got him platooning with alex cora, but i 'spect he'll be the starter next year...
Nice to hear the Tony is doing well. I liked him when he was a utility infielder for the Braves...

Speaking of the Braves, does anybody think they can actually win a Series this year or are they going to once again slit their own throats in the playoffs?
Yup, it's me...in the swine.
Sure, the Braves can get to the World Series. Will they? Who knows.
But I have a new reason to be optimistic: Kyle Farnsworth, who they picked up about a month ago, looks like the closer they need. Throws about around 95 mph and has been unhittable thus far...
with so many new players this year, i don't see atlanta getting past st. louis...
I don't see any team on the NL getting past St. Louis.
St. Louis' track record in the playoffs has been spotty of late, but maybe this is their year.
Re the Braves' new players: They're doing OK now, especially Jeff Francoeur. We shall see...
glavine finally pitched a decent game against his old team, but the bullpen gacked it away late...
the mets are right on time with their september swoon...
By the way... if anybody is wondering, the magic number is down to 16.
