i like our chances tmrw -- NY is in, so they'll be resting a buncha starters, including Mussina in all likelyhood...

Chicago is just tormenting Cleveland. It doesn't look like there'll be a need for a one-game tie-breaker.
That was a beautiful double-play in the seventh that negated a possible tie for the Indians.

Wow, Cleveland sure shriveled at the worst possible time. Well, now the fun really begins...

There is a rally in Chicago today to celebrate the division championships. They must be assuming there won't be a world series celebration so you might as well have the party now!

oh, we're bringin' it big-time.
we're also bringin' our secret weapon -- something every other team in the playoffs fears: "manny being manny"
you never know when he might disappear into the Green Monstah, or jog to 1st base on a groundout.
he'll blindside you with lackadaisical play in leftfield.
and you'll be reduced to a drooling vegetable as he lovingly admires his homers at homeplate, showing up the opposing pitcher...

I was at the Sox/Sox game in Chicago when Joe Crede botched a lazy fly ball out of play and let it drop right out of his glove. I thought to myself... that isn't good.
Next pitch: In the words of Hawk Harrelson "You can put it on the booooard"... crap!
You can't give that guy a second chance.

Good luck to both of you. (How's that for a cop-out?) My main concerns at the moment are:
1) The Angels sweeping NYY
2) John Smoltz's right shoulder
Has anyone but me noticed how the NYY games are always on in prime time?

Nope... I was really hoping to watch some of the Sox games. I thought they are playing last years champs and are bound to show some in primetime. Nope. Yanks Yanks and Yanks... I really really hope they lose.
ps... good luck to your Braves.

Thanks, jp. I don't what to expect from the Braves. If the rookies continue to play well and Smoltz's shoulder is OK, it could be a good series vs. Houston!

i think your braves will be alright against Houston... they are fading. Once they hit St. Louis, though... watch out.
RP,
I have to teach class at 3pm (CT) tonight... I'm seriously considering a field trip to the closest bar/restaurant with a big screen TV.

Looks like the Cards will make quick work of San Diego. 8-0, the last time I checked. If things had worked out just a little differently (Phila. as wild card), it woulda been the Braves playing the Padres.
Now, that's a playoff series I know they would've won!
