Mr B and I watched the game from Burghoff's, downtown. We left in the 4th when it was 6-2, got back to Deerfield when it was 12-2 and caught the bottom of the 8th, top of the 9th. They're gonna wish they had some of those 14 runs back before this one is over.

Oh... I love Burghoff's. The thing I miss most about IL is the delicious authentic food you can find on any corner. Here it is all chains and watered down to pleas everybody.

You are probably right. But they have proven in the past that they can win close games. If their starting pitching stays together... we have a chance.

I don't follow baseball too closely, but given jpinmilw's fervor, I'll root for his team. Go, White Sox.

Thanks RJB. But remember... I can't get excited until after the first round.

Alright... place your bets.

D. Wells vs. Buehrle tonight.

This could be a close game. Wells is a big game pitcher and Buehrle is usually Mister Consistent (although lately he has run into some troubles).

Prediction: Low scoring game. Ozzie ball comes through again. Whites over Reds: 3 - 2

(I actually don't have a good feeling about this game but am really hoping for a two game lead before we have to go to Boston)

Braves vs Houston in the early game today, and I'm at work...must try to follow via the internet.

I find this the most stressful way to follow a game, much harder on my fragile psyche than TV or radio. Hard to fill in the gaps...

None of the games yesterday was very close, was it?

Well there's Boston's 2 runs... now we just have to hold 'em for 8 innings and score 3...

Wait a minute, is this the official baseball playoffs thread, or should someone start one? I'd like to be able to find the right thread when I need to tell everyone how f*cking cool it is that the Yankees won it all again.

Hey Kick... how did that game go last night for ya?

If you want winning baseball I have 8 words for you.

Ozzie Ball:
Get'em on.
Get'em over.
Get'em in.

and then let Tadahito Iguchi hit a 3 run homer

Tell me about it. I saw Marte warming up in the 7th (or was it the 6th) and all I could think was:

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not with a one run game.

Oz made the right choice though. I think that makes 38 wins in one run games. If you can't out hit them you have to out pitch them.
