If Jesus died to forgive us, then why is there a Hell?

I apologize for the crap remarks. I was in a down mood when I came on, and was taking it out on religion, because I deplore wesrtern rekigions for all the murder and strife they cause. My own little sister is into that, and when I asked her the question I asked you, she too was justifying those murderers and ravagers. It broke my heart. So you see it wasn't directed at you, but the group that brainwashed my sister.

....And by the way, my beliefs or as follows; I believe in God...I am true to myself... And I treat people like I want to be treated. You might very call it crap if your leaders tell you to. I don't mind

Look, anyone knows that books are published and there is a publisher's name in the front of the book. But, most books have the author listed there also. And, let me check, nope, there is no author listed there.

And as Neologist so adeptly put it, 2 Timothy 3:16 states: "All scripture is God-breathed and is usefor for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Oh, and about that direct line to God comment: The Bible says, no ones come to the father save through me (Jesus Christ). That's why at the end of a prayer a Christian says, In Jesus' Name.

This is like asserting that someone saying he is Napoleon...IS Napoleon.

Anyone reading the Bible who does not guess it is mostly myth and fairytale....simply is not using the brain he/she has.

Do you know why you folks spend so much time trying to change what the Bible says about its God?

Because you don't accept that a God would be such a piece of shyt. That's why.

And Momma Angel....stop with this nonsense that Jesus came to change the Old Testament.

According to the myth....he did not.

In Matthew chapter 5...Jesus says he is not here to change any of the law...not one word, not one letter of one word, not one stroke of one letter.

Even Paul did not suggest that the Old Testament does not apply. He did say that the laws reqarding dietary restrictions and circumcision no longer apply....although that was something he simply made up.

JESUS NEVER SAID HE WAS HERE TO CHANGE THE LAW.

Frank- I will go one step further. No one really knows the extent, if any, of the historical accuracy of the Bible. I am always amused when someone will say, "So and so said such and such in the Bible".

There is really no way of knowing how much of that book is historical fact, how much is myth, and how much is just plain old political whimsy.
I chuckle when someone quotes chapter and verse, especially with a great amount of fervor.

Amigo, God would never tell me to kill anyone. And, if I thought He did, I would know I was schizophrenic.

I agree. How can seemingly intelligent people believe in fairytales. I guess it is the need for the emotional crutch that is religion.

The bible was written so that inexperienced and unsophisticated ones could learn why we have war and crime and sickness and death and what God intends to do about it. It contains a sound guide for escaping the consequences of deliberate sin and provides a blueprint for escape from God's final judgement.

That it was written for the common man and woman has always proved a conundrum for the intellectual who hopes to find an esoteric license for moral independence from God.

Again you confuse God with the nonsensical God conjured up by man and described in his fairy tale. "Bible".

Neo...the best you can do is to guess why the Bible was written. And anyone not terrified of the god in that book...would NEVER guess that it was written so that "inexperienced and unsophisticated ones could learn why we have war and crime and sickness and death."

The god in it ORDERS DEATH for the most silly of reasons. The murderous god in it deals out death for absurd reasons.

It instructs how to make war as barbaric as possible.

What the hell do they give you sheep to make you think up these fairytales in defense of this book of fairytales?

Horseshyt!

There is no conundrum....except for you poor frightened sheep. And the conundrum is how to make a silk purse out of a sows as shole....which is what you are attempting if you attempt to make the barbaric, murderous god of the Bible into this loving bit of sap you try to peddle.

I don't want you to value them, Neo. I offer my comments in hopes that it will help you extricate yourself from the fear and (dare I use the word here) superstition that causes you to defend the indefensible.
