If Jesus died to forgive us, then why is there a Hell?

I am simply amazed. I do not understand how seemingly intelligent people just don't get it.

God is a loving God. He is a perfect God. To say that He has defects is something I cannot fathom. He created us! He gave us free will to choose salvation or eternal death. He could have made all of us robots and given us no choice at all.

Don't you people read the Bible? The New Testament gave way to the Old. With the crucifixicion and resurrection of Christ came forgiveness. The only holy wars we have now are the ones that MAN creates. We are the ones that have created this monstrosity of what is now the human race. Our decisions, our free will, our deciding what is "right for me". Whatever happened to the basics? What about "do unto others?" It's so simple. If everyone treated everyone the way they would want to be treated there would be no hate. Impossible I know, because we have FREE WILL.

God created man. Man did not create God. Man tries to change what God is but God is the only constant there is.

God says "hate the sin, but love the sinner." God hates sin but He loves us. He only wants good for us. He doesn't want us to suffer. I just don't understand all this. It's all so simple and yet so many look for the complicated answers instead of seeing the simple truth.

Anyone can contradict anything because of interpretation. I just don't understand why anyone would want to interpret God's love as a negative thing.

It's true Christians are forgiven. But, that does not give us license to go out there and do wrong or be untrustworthy.

Momma Angel,
.....You seem to put a lot of stock in the bible as if it's the undeniable law. The bible has wise things in it, but you do know it was written by MEN, who had an agenda, so naturally they would say "this is the absolute truth, inspired by God" Men do that, even with good intentions. But you knew that right?

What I know is the Bible is the word of God. It was breathed by God and inspired by God.

Question What?...I'm serious.....just look in front of any bible, its really there!

....BTW, one of the many things I like in this book is, "I am the Lord thy God, and thou shalt put no other god before me. That means we have a direct line to God. THAT is where the absolute truth comes from. books, and clergy, are merely guidelines. I wouldnt steer you wrong.

Look, anyone knows that books are published and there is a publisher's name in the front of the book. But, most books have the author listed there also. And, let me check, nope, there is no author listed there.

And as Neologist so adeptly put it, 2 Timothy 3:16 states: "All scripture is God-breathed and is usefor for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Oh, and about that direct line to God comment: The Bible says, no ones come to the father save through me (Jesus Christ). That's why at the end of a prayer a Christian says, In Jesus' Name.

So, those guys like Timothy, John, and so forth, DID NOT, write those gospels. Somebody must have told me wrong I know,,, the old testament didn't hqave authors, so they must have been breathed into print byGod, just like folk songs, and folklore. right?

By the way, that bit about only through Jesus, is one of the egregious lies in the bible. That would eliminate most of the world.

Am I wearing you down Yet?

Oh ok, you mean did God literally sit down and write the Bible? No, He put into the hearts and minds of the actual person holding the pen what to say. That is what God-breathed is.

And there are no lies in the Bible! The Bible is God breathed and God inspired. God does not lie.

I'm telling you, I have a direct line with God, and let;s me know the bible is full of lies. But that's okay if you want do believe that crap, after all one of the true things in the bible is "You shall be saved by your belieffs"
.....Now I want to ask you something. First..There is part of the bible that speaks of the Israelites going into the "promised land", and inorder to take the land from the inhabitants, murder them for not accepting their "god". Do you think this was right.

There is something you don't seem to understand. The books of the Old Testament were before Jesus.

Do I think what they did was right? Well, it's like this. God told them to do it. He told them to do it because they were wicked and idolaters.

Do I think that it would be right now? God would not tell someone to do that now. If you don't understand the concept of Christ dying for our sins then you probably won't understand the difference between the old and new testaments.

And, please, I have not called anything you have said crap or anything like that. I thought we were just sharing different viewpoints here. I am not going to get into calling what you believe crap. It's obviously important to you.

I thought you were going to bed anyway!

And why does everyone get so defensive when I say I am going to pray for them? What the heck are you afraid of? That maybe prayers will work?
