If Jesus died to forgive us, then why is there a Hell?

@neologist,
It is shocking how you lack basic Christian knowledge.

If you want more, look it up yourself.

It is equally shocking how you lack reading ability. The second paragraph of your spurious link reads as follows:
Quote:
This is ALL speculation. None of it has been proved Napoleon Bonaparte and Adolf Hitler has not been proved to be the Antichrist. For all we know, none of them were even born yet. Only fools who know nothing of the past think that much of anything will happen because of the Mayan calender.

@neologist,
Psalm 88:10-11 contradict your assertions, what with the distinction between the dead, their spirits and their abode, doggie.

Try reading in a modern English:
Quote:
Will you perform wonders for the dead?
Can those powerless in death rise up to praise you?
11 Will your loyal love be declared in the grave,
Your faithfulness in the place of destruction?
12 Will your wonders be known in the darkness
Or your righteousness in the land of oblivion?
If it's not obvious to you that those in the grave are powerless and unconscious, you may have another issue we have not seen as yet.

@neologist,
The New International Version is modern enough, thanks.

What is obvious is that those passages do not make reference to consciousness or otherwise, your snarky rejoinder notwithstanding.

Your dogma is showing.

@InfraBlue,
Well, if there is indeed no reference to consciousness, then we may look to Solomon's words for clarification
Quote:
5 For the living know that they will die,
but the dead know nothing;
they have no further reward,
and even their name is forgotten.
6 Their love, their hate
and their jealousy have long since vanished;
never again will they have a part
in anything that happens under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 9:,5,6)
Quote:
10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom. (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
Oh, and BTW
I used the NIV

@neologist,
I realize that you are not a common Christian. But it is common Christian knowledge that Napoleon was the first and Hitler was the second anti-Christ. You really need to get out more.

@neologist,
There is no mention of consciousness or the lack thereof in the passages you cite either. Ecclesiastes 9:5 refers to knowing nothing and being forgotten. This corresponds with Psalm 88:12 what with its reference to "the land of oblivion/forgetfulness." One must be conscious to be able to be oblivious/ to forget. The tenth passage is read within that context.

@Patches,
If you are spelling the word christian with a lower case 'c', I can understand. The so called 'christian' priesthood has been fleecing the flock since Constantine.

@InfraBlue,
How conscious must one be to know nothing?

I usually don't post images, but I thought you might be interested in my dogma.
His name is Tobias Fleabitis. But he doesn't speak Latin, So we call him Toby.
Say hello, Toby.

I think you know.

@neologist,
Did the priesthood learn from the politicians or the politicians learn from the priesthood how to fleece the populace?

Hmm.
Good question.
I was not there in the bedroom; so I don't know which came first.
But every time the politicians feel the need for war, the priests have been all too eager to provide cannon fodder.

@neologist,
The passages I've cited refer to oblivion/forgetfulness, which you are avoiding addressing. Again, one must be conscious to be oblivious/forgetful. I know that read in context, knowing or otherwise requires consciousness.
